Recent reviews are terrible overall for this item. Damn, needed a new filter wrench. The search continues!

Actually that is not *necessarily* true... If you're reading the Amazon reviews, PT makes a bunch of different oil filter pliers. All of the reviews are mixed together. There are revies for straight jaw mixed in with adjustable mixed in with these -- Self Adjusting. Only look at the reviews marked "Self Adjusting" and then let me know what bad reviews you find. As an FYI, the "Straight Jaw" pliers received a lot of horrible reviews... again, these are the "Self Adjusting."

Just stop torquing the things down.. Mine go on hand tight and come off without issue (pre-oil the gasket when you put it on) never have any leaks.

These are VERY useful for Personal Watercrafts that are damn near impossible to grab with a hand.

That's great when you were the last person to change it.
I'm coming up on the hydraulic filters change on my tractor, and most other owners have said they are CRAZY tight from the factory. Not looking forward to doing it, but no way am I paying the stealership $600 for them to do it.
