i cannot recommend people stay away from these Logitech controllers enough, terrible dpad, one of the mushiest possible, triggers that fail in a few months, face buttons that fail in under a year, it's cheap, but there's better cheap controllers. the f710 is even worse because it has the same problems but more expensive, plus it's on a band that is full of interference if you have a wifi signal anywhere near it, same button and trigger failures. the sticks on them aren't bad, but i've never had one live long enough to even start to drift. edit: forgot about the deadzone issue, sticks do have huge deadzones.

edit: THEY WERE USING THE F710 TO CONTROL THE SUB? what the hell man, why why why. a vanilla xbone controller lasts so much longer and is so much more reliable.

Not wireless, so you won't have to worry about losing connection.

This surprisingly remains in tact, with it's oxygen-filled plastic shell it's buoyancy brought it right back to the surface. You too can own a piece of modern marvels history.

In fairness, the Logitech ones at least have a year warranty. Vanilla Xbox one controllers only get a 90 day warranty brand new. Found this out the hard way when an entire control stick died on a 6 month old controller and Microsoft said tough shit.

Logitech has to be pissed about this whole thing.

I know they say that no press is bad press. But when it comes to an international incident like this, where people were potentially entombed 2 miles deep in the ocean because they used what everyone views as a knockoff controller, then yeah, I'd say that is some bad press.
Is there any Indication that the controller is at all responsible? Even if it lost control. Supposedly there were multiple systems for resurfacing. I know it's an easy joke when they used a Logitech wireless controller in a tiny sub, but I had a Logitech wireless PS2 controller probably 20 years ago that worked perfectly for hundreds of hours of use.

It's possible they considered wired and with the right quarters, decided that it wasn't practical and had a higher chance of getting snagged and damaged. Or who knows, but I really doubt this incident is going to cause people to avoid Logitech.

This version is the better. The other version had stick drift. When u press up, it would drift down.

I think you want the F710. Though maybe not.
i just dug through some of my old junk and pulled out an F710. Somehow, the rubber backside has turned all sticky/tacky and appears to have been an absolute magnet for cat hair and dust.

The scariest part of that is that you don't even own a cat

Can someone explain to me why a game style controller isn't the perfect way to pilot a small submersible? It allows precise movements and doesn't take up a lot of space. I feel like people making comments about this aspect of the submersible are just being mindless drones

No, had nothing to do with the controller. Just something the media knew they could put out there for their masses to parrot back to pretend they have a brain
