My In laws have something like this only built for two and they like it well enough. I'd just as well watch the kids play soccer in the rain from the safety of my car, but this seems like a solid approach.
Gentle sprinkle? Use an umbrella if you want.
Drizzle? That's where this thing starts becoming handy. You can sit in your chair with the front open and you're golden.
