I've been holding out in solidarity to protest the ridiculous prices...what's our target price point for this model card? I paid $430 for a MSI 1070 back in 2017, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics that's $536.19 in today's dollars. Assuming I didn't grossly overpay six years ago that would tell me this price is a return to "normal".

not sure if that is a good price or not but I think I ended up paying about $350 for a gigabyte g1 gtx 1080 new from eBay back in spring of 2017 but that included eBay bucks and credit card Cashback and all. I think at or under $400 for a rtx 4070 is where I think will be very enticing for buyers

Edit: $350, not $300. My bad

Looking back at old slickdeals $430 definitely was on the high end, must have been an impulse buy. According to three camels the lowest my card got was $380 in May of 2017 which would be $472 in today's dollars. $475 seems realistic, at or under $400 I wouldn't expect to see until the next generation is out and they are clearing out inventory.

40 series have frame generation and dlss3. And 3080 had 10gb vram right? That may be a problem

I got a zotac 1070 for $384 after tax in 2016 and asus 1070 $396 after tax also in 2016.

1070 had 8gb of ram while the 4070 still has 8gb of ram, this may effect how long the card will be good for at higher resolutions.

Yes. It was $550 with Diablo IV a few days ago. I almost pulled the trigger until read the review about the vram cooling issue.

They will.. there is huge shelf stock now that the pandemic supply chain issues are resolved, not everyone has a ton of free money giving the economy, the mining phase has passed, and manufacturers need to clear old so they can release new stuff.
