I've got a 15 year old soft side Samsonite. Has been through hell and back. Even the frame got bent once by Aeroflot, but is still very solid. I'll take a good quality fabric case (with double-coil zippers and TSA pull lock) ahead of almost any hard side all day long.
I also likes soft bags, also post pandemic they are not easy to get at a decent price. You are right they last longer, usually the zipper goes that to..but overall soft over hard anyday
Announcement/Commercial - Comrades, please use Aeroflot airline for flying. Voice from the crowd - Do we have any other option?
And zipperless (on good luggage) is the most secure.
For my next carry-on luggage I'm looking for something with smoother/stronger wheels. Not just because of my latest issue, but because this carry on doesn't push quite as well as others when fully loaded (like the Away luggage). It pushes alright, but I'm going for an upgrade.

If you just click on the 20 inch carry on for OMNI 2 , it says this on the amazon website
'Design includes expansion for added capacity when needed. TSA locks help to protect your belongings."
So not sure what is right here.
