Just messing with PCPartPicker, I think it would cost almost $300 to make an APU-only build around this $80 5600G and the cheapest parts. That can go down if you hit the used market, or reuse old parts you have. It might be better to get some 7735HS mini PC instead, or OEM refurbs that come with a graphics card.
So the best case is you upgrade an old AM4 system you already have with this.

You actually get an increase of "L3 cache per core" going from R5 2600 to this, since the R5 2600 split its 16 MB of L3 cache into two CCXs.
Make sure you can update the BIOS to support the 5600G.
What's interesting is that there are rumors of a 5600X3D coming to AM4. But it could end up being OEM-only even if it is real.

It would be pretty good. Obviously the 5600X/5700X/etc. would be better, but this price is hard to ignore.
