I also had the same setup last year. Then 6 month ago, I added #4 for Tello eSIM for my secondary real #, paying $5/month Tello 100 mins talk & unl. text. So one phone with 4 numbers. Smilie

I realize 99% of people here hate Freedompop, so feel free to stop reading if this applies to you.

Anyway, the company recently released a new sim sold only at Target for 5 bucks. Service uses the AT&T network and gives users 100 minutes, 100 texts, and 100mb of data for free every month. Some people might want to consider this option for 2FA purposes since users get a real cellular number and not voip like Textnow or Google Voice.

May depend on the state, but these FreedomPop plans have always been completely free for me.

Yeah, the one on the right. Avoid the other sim with only 10 minutes, 10 texts, and 25mb per month.

The ACP part that requires income verification is a completely different plan. The 100 minutes, 100 texts, and 100mb each month is for everybody with no income verification needed.

Since this plan uses AT&T, free wi-fi calling is included. Wi-fi calling in this case does not subtract minutes off the monthly cellular allowance of 100.

I am assuming this one must also show some usage every 30 days. Correct?

Don't bother with the TextNow website, it hasn't even updated it's prices there yet. Also, no option to login to your account anymore that I can see. Their customer support is all chat based via mobile app. I have had to contact them twice and both times they answered my question.

Surprisingly TextNow delivered consistently better speeds for me than Mint which I tried for three months. More often than not, Mint was unable to load web pages and apps would be unable to log in. I wanted to like Mint and tried so hard because of the price and signal coverage, but during the hours of 0900-1800, data was atrocious. I've never had that problem with TextNow and have been with them for longer than three months.

I was able to use the SIM on a locked ATT phone, locked Verizon and locked T-Mobile phone. It worked on all three Android phones even though the website says you need an unlocked phone. Currently using on a locked T-Mobile. If you want to use TextNow on separate phones you have to set up new accounts tied to different emails. You can't just order new SIM cards under the same account and plug them into new phones - it won't work. WiFi calling does not require a SIM though. Unfortunately, I couldn't use my Google Voice phone number with the "free" SIM since "2G like" data speeds were too slow (see below). You'd have to get a plan to make that work.

Don't plan on using this for business, it's just not reliable enough. Also, don't expect to use this as a burner phone to receive OTP texts. It doesn't always work. The ads aren't in any way invasive. The ads here are more annoying. Cellular signal is great though and I do get 5G UC in most areas. I see some posts online about "unlimited 2G" once any cap is up. I can tell you my 14.4 modem was better. The "unlimited 2G" speeds will at best load a google search page. Not sure if this is still a thing though since there's a post here about speeds being a bit faster than that after hitting the limit. Can attest the 'free SIM" version is still too slow to use as it's so heavily throttled.

Added bonus: US accounts work in Canada without roaming charges.
So you can use a locked T-Mobile phone with this Text now sim? Sorry I'm kinda dumb when it comes to all of this and I have a super nice gaming phone locked to T-Mobile and would love to be able to use it even just to make phone calls lol!

It should work. Check it. https://www.textnow.com/device-checker

BTW, you don't need a sim. You can just text and call on wifi. https://www.textnow.com/downloads

Mint has a $15 unlimited everything plan right now as long as you commit to the 12 months.

The best plan for a backup/emergency phone is red pocket's $2.50 monthly plan. You get 1,000 texts and 200 minutes every month.
