I saw one (heat pump dryer, not including washer like this particular unit) in a Matt Risinger video and I'm pretty sure it took the output and reused it as the input. For sure there was a two-stage filter system:

normal (or maybe beefier? tough to remember) lint screen
plus more of a sponge type filter that sealed super tight into its housing...basically guaranteed that no lint would get into the coils

How is this 120v 12 amp and not use gas??? Typical electric dryer uses 240v / 30 amps??

Uses a heat pump vs traditional resistive heating coils.

If you are only doing a single load, it is not much longer with a combo unit, but multiple loads will take about twice as long.

ah yeah, that's true. Well if electrification rebates knock off another 850 at the $1699 price later this year, I'll buy two of them laugh out loud

It just uses 120v no gas and no 240v they have advanced fan and filters inside to get dry as same as regular dryer

Dryer vents expel condensation not lint. Yes lint can get caught in the vent but that's not the purpose. Ventless has been around for a long time.

The drying cycle of a combo W/D like this is never as good, but good enough when you're in a cramped apartment without authorization/capability to add a vent.

This is a really weird dryer. It will make your clothes soapy and wet before drying.

My parents have a smaller version in Europe. They've had it for years without issue. I've used it while visiting abroad. Electricity is very expensive where they live, so these type of units are the norm. Works well, but slow to dry. Not a big deal though bc we'd throw our clothes in at night and they'd be washed and dried before morning. The washer/dryer room also didn't seem to get warm like ours in the US

Half the size, what are you looking at? This is about the size of a standard washer (4.8cu ft) so that point is moot. And as I said, I don't know how effective or effecient it is as there's not many user reviews on this yet but a couple of people here have posted saying that drying takes some time.
