They do so expell lint. The filter only catches some of it (to not clog up the dryer duct), but even the dryer duct gets clogged up after several years and needs to be cleaned from time to time. Plus you can usually see signs of lint right where the vent is (a bit of lint on the ground or on the foundation in that area). Now a couple of people chimed in and said that this has a more advanced or two stage filtering system with a sponge or something, but how does that get cleaned? Is it self cleaning through a backwash cleaning function after the end of the drying cycle? Or is this something you have to take our and wash by hand. If it's the former, then I could see that being another "moving part" or function to break. IDK, the more I hear about this makes me very hesitant about it. Hasn't been around long enough for long term reviews. And if something with the heat pump breaks this thing would probably go to the scrapyard because it would be too expensive to fix (obviously if it's outside the warranty period that is). Just some food for thought people.
You went on a 250 word diatribe to say exactly what I said in 3 sentences. Lint can get past the filter but it's a dryer vent, not a lint expulsion hose. Lint in the vent causes fires, it's not the intended purpose, it's a byproduct.

I'm a bit nervous. Just ordered one to place beside my stacking washer/dryer to help reduce the time it takes to get through my laundering needs.

2" standpipe drain may not have enough capacity. I may have to add a second pipe, but I'll test it out with a hose this weekend.

I've used 2in1 while living in Europe and Asia. The ones I used worked well.

I dont get what everyone is complaining about, if it doesnt work, send it back.

It's literally costco. It doesn't get any easier then that. I bought 2 to see if I can have double the units. Kids are messy so why not. If it works out, great, if not, reinstall the old units and send this puppy back to costco.

Life isn't hard folks....

The biggest missed part of this combo unit is…. It's completely all new technology. It's different technology than European combo units. It's not smaller and it is very energy efficient. It reduces the number of holes in your roof. It also automatically both washes and dries and then it even dispenses the correct amounts of detergent and softener.

From previous research, American branded heat pump units are supposedly unreliable.

The European brands have been doing this longer and have a reliable track record.
5 year warranty on the heat pump is plenty. Most appliances don't last more then 3-5 anyway these days Frown

Beware, laundry throughout for this is half that of two independent machines
Beware, reading comprehension isn't strong with this one.

it's literally the same size as a normal washer (around 5 cuft), note the size of the unit Wink
