Klipsch Optimize Mode

Klipsch Optimize Mode allows you to easily integrate your Klipsch Reference and Reference Premiere speakers seamlessly with your Onkyo AV receiver. Klipsch and Onkyo teamed up to implement the precise crossover values for specific new Reference Premiere speakers. Now, you can simply select the model speakers you'll be using for each individual channel, and the optimized crossover setting will be automatically applied.

Discrete Zone 3 HDMI Switching

Set up different high-definition entertainment options with up to 8K60 resolution* in two different rooms from your Onkyo receiver when the kids don't feel like partaking in whatever you like or vice versa.**

*8K60 only valid for Zone 1/Zone 2 will only produce 4K120 resolution when two separate HDMI sources are used
**Zone 3 for analog and Net sources only

Take the room out of the equation

State-of-the-art Dirac Live Room Correction technology unlocks your loudspeakers' full potential, improving audio performance across the full frequency band without additional upgrades. Dirac Live automatically calibrates sound in your room using either your smartphone and the included wired mic or virtually wireless with the Dirac Live PC or MacOS* application and a 3rd party USB mic (not included). Now, you'll get a more accurate measurement of your surround sound system's positioning to be more precise and balanced, providing a better result with the increased upper limit of delay time from 20 to 50 milliseconds.

*Device must be connected to the internet and the same network as your AVR

THX Certified

In 1993, Onkyo became the first consumer electronics brand to be THX-certified. With literally thousands of tests, before earning the THX-certification logo: no matter what input is used, no matter what combination of the many built-in features for the AVR, preamplifier, or amplifier, there can be absolutely nothing added, nothing taken away from the source material. The TX-NR7100 offers four distinct THX listening modes: cinema, gaming, music, and surround EX.

Built-In Streaming Services

Access to Spotify, TIDAL, Deezer, TuneIn, and Pandora are built into the system. Use dedicated apps (where available) or the free Onkyo Control App for Apple and Android devices to find and play music.

Onkyo Certified Factory Refurbished audio products have been tested, inspected and approved for sale by an approved Onkyo quality assurance professional. All Onkyo Certified Factory Refurbished audio products pass the same strict performance standards as our brand-new products. Product may have minor cosmetic imperfections.

I have this exact receiver. It's pretty good, but I wish I had gone with one of the other "dirac supported" receivers. The user interface is pretty meh, and it doesn't play super nice with CEC. Whenever I try to adjust the volume with the tv remote there is a severe delay before the tv recieves the information leading to easily cranking the volume too high or too low.

This is a common problem, and I found a lot of other people with the same issue.
Yes every brand has a failure rate, some are higher than others, he rightfully(IMO) questions Onkyo's.

Warranties are a good idea but does one want to gamble on a brand that has a higher failure rate then having to return and be without it for however long it takes is a legitimate thing to consider IMO.

IMO Dirac is the reason people are willing to gamble on Onkyo again, without it this would not be a great price.

Good price but I don't know much about the company. Are they an authorized seller for warranty purposes?

CEC has a LOT to do with what specific brand components are connected to the unit

For instance, in my experience...Yamaha AVR's dont play well with some Samsung TV's and Blu ray players but are good with Sony Tv's and Blu ray players

How are Onkyo receivers these days? They had some reliability issues a few years ago

Onkyo is using Dirac to try and change that mindset.
You will get opposing opinions on it but only time will tell if reliability has changed or not.
Dirac has nothing to do with reliability.

I would be careful about making assumptions about reliability, by brand

Marantz just gave me a replacement 7015 that is still sitting in the sealed box
The Denon X7200, I just sold ,also saw a repair under warranty.

An extended warranty is your " friend" should you have reliability concerns

I went from a 7.2 Denon to the 7100. Was lucky to get it when price dropped to $699. The immersion and Atmos effects sound a lot better to me with Dirac and the extra speakers, even though I don't have any ceiling mounted. So very happy with the upgrade.

I too noticed a delay when adjusting the volume. Not that big of a deal to me. Just need to be a bit careful not to floor the volume up button and get blasted. One thing that that is more annoying though is when playing some youtube videos there is a delay where I miss the first second or so of the audio. I'm guessing there's probably a setting adjustment to correct that but haven't yet tried toggling lip sync or any other settings to try and fix that.

There were HDMI board issues in the intro of the 805/875/905 units
I personally had a couple replaced under warranty

The value for the dollar , back then, was off the charts back then as those had amp/power sections that rivaled separate amps in many cases

I would consider an extended warranty on any of these products...regardless of brand

They added heatsinks to some of the IC's HDMI board. On the models that were failing the IC's had no heatsinks which would cause them to overheat and fail. Some also say it was due to poor quality capacitors.

Whatever the case hopefully the new changes fix the issue long term. I haven't seen any reports of these newer models failing and they've been out for about 2 years.

I personally just added a couple of USB fans to top of mine for peace of mind.
