Doing a quick search on SD for "samsung 2tb t7", this appears to be about the best price we've seen so far. I picked one up off Amazon. Planning to use it to store movies to play off my iPad when traveling.

FWIW, My 2TB T7 drive melted after ~2 years into a puddle of white thermal compound (search "t7 white substance" on Google). Samsung did end up fully refunding me under warranty but it took about 4 months of waiting and 10 hours of phone calls to finally get them to process the refund.

Edu still shows price.

How is this price? I haven't followed portable SSD prices in a while.

Edit: looks like a good price and about as cheap as any recent comparables. Seems to get favorable reviews on Reddit vs SanDisk.

Is it true that for long time data storage, regular hard drives are better than SSD. Can someone confirm that?

Genuine thought: If you can buy a 2TB Intel 670p for ~$60 and throw it in a $25 enclosure and get the flexibility of having the spare SSD to use later internally/spare enclosure if a better SSD comes up here - why scoop this up?

My 5TB Seagate just died a few weeks ago so I've been looking to get something to hold me over incase my 2TB WD goes the way of the dodo soon too.

I am still looking for a reliable nvme enclosure. Even the"best" ones have some issues that sata enclosures or sata-usb cables don't have like dropping out of the USB. Mine is from microcenter. It sometimes drops out of USB, making me suspect that it is not a reliable way to store backups.

Great price and good for storing and playing PS4 games with the PS5 console.

Can store PS5 games on it too but only storage; no PS5 games can be played off the external SSD Smilie

They are fine for Telsa recording, but even T5 would be fine. Both overkill unless you are going to use it for music too. An SD card made for cam recording like their Endurance Pro along with a sd reader into the usb port works fine and way cheaper/lighter.
