You can, but if you want the colors to sync with the TV youll need a Hue Sync Box

There was an updated model of the Sync box that labeled it as "8k" earlier in the year, but it has never shown up. This update would enable HDMI 2.1 features. Personally, I have the max (10) in sync in my media room. I love it, but my wife hates it and it ends up being a novelty. The 2 bars that I use can be seen in this video: https://youtu.be/DUiIPwTAL7Q. They are the ones on top of the subwoofers.

I saw the recessed lighting deal from Philips. I think that's even expensive. I don't need multi color for my ceiling. It would make the house look too gaudy if I go outside of daylight 5K or 6K or 3K intensity. That's something I can live with because they are natural. But anything other than that, for example violet or blue or green or other colors for recessed ceiling light for a normal house is too gaudy. Anyways I still think that's expensive and would rather go with a mono color light and maybe buy a smart switch to turn it on or off.
With respect to the Hue box for synchronization I personally do not care. People here would. So it's personal opinion.
These Hue lights are generally expensive but you justify the price because of the ecosystem. I only buy on sale and got 1 for around $70 and then (recently) 2 for $99. This current deal is an awesome sale that probably put them right at how much they should cost each
As for the product, it works great. Especially in unison with more of them 😢

Your FPS game character will still turn around and shoot the guy behind you in the same 0.3 seconds whether you're running 60FPS or more. It's the backgrounds mostly that get reflected in these lights and the backgrounds don't change more than a few times per second anyway.
If you do this, you have to have a screen that's at least ~2" thick (yes, thick) so that the focused lights have room to project onto the wall without splashing their light onto the screen itself and diluting the power of your projection (Hue lights have to be BEHIND the front projection space).
I wish they made a gradient strip for projector screens but 75" seems to be max size. If anybody knows a way to hook 3 of them together, let me know!
