Thank you!

Edit: Crap forgot to mark as gift. Anyone have experience with receiving legos via frustration free packaging?

Yep. The last few I've received come in a specifically shaped cardboard box that keeps the actual item in good shape. I wouldn't be too concerned.

Cheapest before now I have seen was $64. I wonder how low it will go. I don't think we have reached rock bottom yet.

If it's like the last economic turn down, should be some decent deals on lego to come. ... people are starting to spend more cautiously (Do I NEED it, or do I WANT it) and the resell market on lego is down right now with sellers trying to just break even, pay bills, so not a lot of hoarding going on at the minute for sets. Saying that I can't see this set in huge demand anytime soon, maybe in 5-7yrs it will double in value.

I have to disagree. Avatar is a huge and popular franchise (especially the first film which this set is based off) and this set has only been out for little over a year. I think it will do very well over time and will take a lot less than 5-7 years to double. Especially when purchasing at this price range ($50-$60).

You might be right... but Avatar sets seem to be on sale at many retailers right now, which is an indication that as a whole, the series did not do well, or there was a mass over production or both.

Avatar LEGO isn't popular though, this set is even on sale at Lego.com and they rarely have sales.

While people like the movies the fans don't go out and buy Avatar toys, they aren't tall blue aliens for Halloween. There clearly isn't a demand for this set.

Now sure, maybe there will be some nostalgia for the set several years from now when the 5th or 6th movie comes out, but who knows.
