It looks like they changed the expiration policy, and they no longer expire.

I keep track of them. I don't know of a way to add them to my account unless I book then cancel, then it's flight credit. If there is such a feature to add them on the SW website, I'm not aware of it.

Couldn't find anything on the Southwest site but can I add these into my "wallet" on Southwest right away or do I need to keep track of them until I'm ready to travel and purchase tickets?

They don't, but once they are added to your account they expire in one year (at least they used to...I made the mistake of using one for a flight that I canceled, and didn't realize the credit expired before I could use it again). That said, SW has made some changes recently, so hopefully they altered this policy!

How can this be? Seems illegal. I can understand flight credit or credit from canceled flights can expire. But giftcards are like cash. Seems fishy.
