Registering has nothing to do with whether the drone broadcasts Remote ID, those are two mutually exclusive things. The drone has no idea if you've registered it or not. Your location and the drone details are always being continuously broadcast, whether through built-in telemetry data and also with RID if equipped. And while you can buy an older drone without RID, you can't fly it anywhere but indoors or in a Federally Recognized Identification Area (FRIA) after September unless you add on a RID module. But it's still openly broadcasting its telemetry as part of the data link channel with the remote control, so it's not like you're going stealth and nobody who cares can't see you.
Drones have already been broadcasting this information, including operator home point updates, for years, they've just been doing it under non-standard protocols that required more higher end & expensive solutions, like DJI AeroScope which almost all airports and law enforcement agencies have had for a while now. Side note - the protocol is unencrypted and has been reverse engineered and there are even plugins for WireShark to decode it, so you can build your own DIY systems at this point.
There's no weight exception for registration for non-recreational use so if you're flying for any purpose other than personal pleasure you still have to get a Part 107 and register the individual drone.
Your fictional fear situation makes zero sense precisely because of what evidential protections using RID (and the system logs) provides to LE and drone operators. Operators are easy to track down precisely because they, by law, must be in an open area and able to see the drone at all times. I've been flying for over 5 years and have never had a problem because caution and risk management are always a part of the flight plan - also, I'm not a moron and am aware that people value their privacy. When I flew utility inspections we flew $20k Matrice 210s with another $14k in sensors bolted on in some incredibly sketchy areas all while we were wearing bright vests and hard hats. Your biggest risks by far when flying drones are trees, animals, and strong RF interference.
Nothing is wrong with registering with the FAA, a single $5 registration covers every drone you own for recreational use. And since adding any accessory at all puts you over the 249g mark, registering also means you're then able to use the extended life batteries, prop guards and other accessories and be under compliance with Fed and local laws. It's really not a big deal to do it and can even help you get your drone back if you lose it, but there are a certain subset of people who sure like to make it out to be the end of all their rights and privacy. Ironically it's people with the exact same mindset which are the ones you actually need to fear when flying.

Yes, I downgrade from Mavic 3.
For FB post, I see no difference.
But… if you're set on a 3 pro with an rc controller this is the best deal I've seen and would definitely have bought it here instead of best buy refurbished.

Edit: Mini 3 and Mini 3 Pro both have the MSDK available, but automated missions are more nuanced. They require an Android device and the RC-N1 Controller.
I avoid terms like "mapping" and "surveying" because in most states, you need to be licensed to do these things. However, the automated missions allow you to gather data that could be used in mapping and/or surveying. Check your local laws for what is allowed.
There's also the argument that since bad drone actors will simply not use drones with Remote ID or disable theirs, only law-abiding drone operators will register. Imagine who the Feds will go after if an unregistered criminal and a registered operator are flying in the same area...
1. It costs $5 and last for 3 years.
2. Drone can be traces back to you through thee FAA if there is some kind of incident. DJI can trace the drone to you anyways. Not sure what DJI's privacy policy is of something were to happen. Plus Remote ID is broadcasting the controller's location to anyone listening. So I don't see registering as giving up much privacy at this point.
What does that mean? If you want to use a 3rd party tool (such as Dronelink, DroneDeploy, Litchi, etc.), you can only do that with the pro version. These tools allow you to run automated missions for things like photogrammetry.

As for the charging hub, and just to add another perspective. I do enjoy using the charging hub, but it only charges one at a time in sequence and really takes forever. I see what you mean about daisy chaining to the drone from the output usb but I'm wondering if that effects the charge time for the batteries inside the hub. In the meantime I've been interested in trying this 6 in 1 charger, it outputs a total of 68 watts vs DJI's 30.and I've heard a lot of good feedback about it.
