The unframed magnets are trash. I purchased 2 of the 4x6 last time and not only were they oversatured and completely the wrong tone/color, but after just a couple months the printed portion began separating from the magnet. They're on the fridge and the humidity never even reaches 60%.

On the other hand, I like the framed magnets. They appear to be printed on a different machine (at least at my local Walgreen's) as the tone/color is good. We have 30+ of the 4x4 purchased several years ago ($1 back then) and they have held up well.

I have both and the unframed ones are holding up just fine. If you go to pick up your magnets and the tone/color/saturation are not fantastic, you can just ask them to fix it and they will redo it for free while you wait (usually about 10 minutes).

Yeah I tried that. They can't fix anything. They just kept printing them over and over again and while they certainly changed them, they were not able to get them to anything even remotely close to the original. FWIW, as a longtime computer geek, my monitor is professionally color calibrated so the problem wasn't on my end.

We ordered 5 of them for the fridge. My 2 year old bends them and pull them off the fridge and plays with them as if they are a toy. Haven't fallen apart at all. Maybe mine were made better then yours

No, unfortunately. Although people on slickdeals have put headshots on 8x10 and do passport photos free that way. Too much work for me.

Costco used to have a great deal on passport photos but it removed the photo department from stores a few years back.

OP is incorrect: lists many items that don't qualify, including wood magnet set. Shutterfly magnets deal is much much much better...

Same experience with over saturated colors. They printed 3 copies by fixing the settings and the last one was just okay so i took it, but nowhere close to the original. the first two copies were not even acceptable.

Yeah, I did that myself for a prior passport photo for a family member. Downloaded one of those passport photo apps, cropped it down in paint for the right size and then uploaded a bunch of cropped pics to a 5x7 or 8x10...I forget. I also used the State Departments photo checker website...was so worried the whole time that the state dept would not accept the photo but in the end they did...would rather NOT go through that experience again.

But, I've even read on Reddit that the state dept regularly rejects photos taken from the US Postal Service, CVS, Walgreens, etc...

Use a passport photo app and print your own passport photos for the cost of a 4x6 print. There are a few free apps out there. My passport photos cost me 0.09. Just take picture in front of an all white background.
