Western Digital has had my 1TB sn850 for two weeks and allegedly they don't have any units to ship out to fulfill their warranty obligation, and are offloading these sn850x for $60.... I paid $160 for sn850 a while back... I have thousands of dollars in Western Digital drives but this is becoming the straw that broke the camels back.
Warning on warranty/RMA issues folks.
Edit: It gets better. If you call support they dump you into a special rma section... I type in rma number and it can't locate it so it hangs up on you. It takes several minutes just to get to this point with the automated system. Western Digital is dead to me. Zero support or standing by their product or honoring of their warranties.
Edit 2: Finally got through to support. They advised they shipped an sn850x replacement yesterday. No tracking number is available yet, 1-2 more days for tracking and three days for delivery. Will continue to wait impatiently, at least the status has now updated after calling them. The tracking number is available only on authenticated support page not rma status page. The drive "shipped" yesterday but was never tendered to UPS and remains at their warehouse in California. They are shipping the drive to me via three day service, the same I used to ship to them.
Edit 3: Finally shipped today, but via UPS ground. ETA next Wednesday July 5th... Absolutely unacceptable, but at least it's finally moving.

You need to use the PayPal app. In the app go to Deals, search for Western Digital, search the product, and checkout paying with PayPal. I already got an email saying the points are pending.
To me, I have tried several G4 NVME(SK P41/SN850X/Nexstorage) and though there is no perfect products, SN850X is the winner for me for its peak performance, 2TB single-sided, less known issues and thermal part. SK P41 is good at small 4K writes(not able to feel the advantage in reality like OS boot) but slow sustain 1MB write and temperature control are not that great. Nexstorage 2TB is a very good product in very good sustain 1MB write but it is double-sided for 2TB model and is hotter.
You don't really have to worry about it unless you get an old stock of 2 TB. If you do you can update the firmware. I would just get whatever you can get at a discounted price.
I am seeing all sorts of negative reviews on a number of WD and Samsung SSDs. So I am being careful. This past weekend my Samsung 860 EVO just bit the dust... Windows would not boot. It was not heavily used computer. So now I want to be careful. I need an upgrade for my wife's Lenovo Yoga 6, which is pretty small and so I need to make sure there is no excessive heat in her laptop. I am looking for 1TB to increase her 128GB drive. My options, based on the sale prices here on slickdeals, are Samsung 980 Pro and Western Digital SN850 (both are $60) and I can also get a good price on the Western Digital 770 ($50). I know the Samsung firmware issue has been fixed, but most of the issues with both of these drives have little to do with the firmware issue.
So I am requesting any feedback on what has been your experience and your recommendation. It is a very small computer, so it would most likely not accept a heatsink. It currently has a small form factor drive that accepts the larger size drives. From the upgrade videos I have watch, I to not see any significant thermal protection, except the holder for the small form factor may act as a heatsink.
Again, looking for feedback and recommendations.

Did not get 12% off using PayPal. How did you?
