By that logic, having three 27" monitors side by side is "too narrow" too?

This aspect ratio at this size is perfect. I've had three generations of Alienware Ultrawides (now I have the OLED) and I can't go back to non ultrawide monitors. Every recent game now supports this aspect ratio. Unless you play competitive first person shooters at very high refresh rates, I don't see the advantage of 16:9 over the more immersive 21:9

Doesn't it reduce too much the amount of lines of text/code you can see?

It doesn't. 1440 is the same pixel "height" as 2k monitors, this is just wider. You can always put windows scaling to 100% instead of 150 if you want to see more lines too.

compared to a 4k monitor, yes this is less lines of code, but a 4k monitor isn't that good for gaming as you'd need a 4080 to play games at native resolution then.

While I agree that this aspect ratio is perfect for gaming (I have the QD-OLED as well), not every modern game supports it. There are quite a few that need mods to get ultra-wide working. Elden Ring and all of FromSoftware's games, Hades, and all the Persona Games are a few that don't have ultra-wide support. Pretty much no fighting game has ultra-wide support, but that one's understandable since it's incredibly hard to get right (Mortal Kombat 11 UW was terrible). Most of the popular modern games do support it, but it's definitely not all of them.

I had a 21:9 and I did not like it. 21:10 is better. To each their own.

Oooooh. I had indeed assumed you'd lose in height to gain in width.
Then if it's all benefits no con it makes a lot of sense!
Thank you!
