Isn't 300-nits low for a $1400 laptop?

I recently tried a Slim Pro 7, with a 350 nit screen…on sale for 850. My only complaint was the screen just didn't get bright enough. Otherwise it's fantastic for what you get.

So yea, 300 is quite low…especially at this price point. These used to all come standard with the 500 nit screen…and it's only a $30 upgrade when custom building…but few of these prebuilt options that go on sale have it sadly.

For those wondering how this compared against the FP Asus Zephyrus Intel/3070TI version.

I ended up keeping this one, because of lower fan noise (the Zephyrus is uncomfortably noisy during load), the keyboard feels sturdier, and the CPU/GPU combination ended up outperforming the Zephyrus by ~2k in 3DMark Time Spy.

I'm not quite sure why the 7745HX is underperforming the 12900H, but the significant drag on the other machine is definitely the older 3070 TI, despite all the reviews I have read about these 2 GPUs.

I just got my Alienware m15r7. Unbeknownst to me when I ordered it, you can only get Gsync out of the HDMI2.1 port (and I do t have $1k+ to drop on a new monitor that has 2.1 ports)… frustrating!

Do the TB/DP ports on this connect directly to the GPU / allow you to use GSync?

There's a custom 4070 legion pro 5 as well where you can change the screen to 500 nits. I believe the price goes to $1500+ after the coupon

Lenovo did weird decision, they downgraded display panel from 500 nits to 300 on most Pro 5 models. There are a few SKUs which still have 500 nits display. Those who have used to higher brightness displays would find this dim. 300 nits is good for slightly darker indoors not for outdoor usage.

The color coverage matters more. Neither were dcip3 100% coverage but if I recall, the 500 nits models was slightly more color accurate?

300 isn't great but 500 isn't exactly required on a gaming laptop. I mean, how many people buy a laptop like this and will be using it in the sun for any significant portion of their use?

16 gb Vram makes this a good deal. Almost every AAA game at high settings is gonna need more than 8 GB in the future and Nvidia knows it.
Wrong thread. Referring to the 3080 ti laptop

Where do you see 16GB VRAM on this?

I have a 500-nit laptop that's getting long in the tooth (Legion Y740) but turn it up to full brightness for games/movies all the time, given how dark some content is. For gaming on a 15-16" display, I would rather take a 1080P/500-nit display over a 1600P/300-nit display for the extra brightness and fps. Too bad it's no longer an option.

Wow Lenovo getting worse and worse. Previous Legions all had 500-nit screens. 300-nit is a massive downgrade. now you have to buy the $2500 Legion Pros to get what you had before. From the 2021-2022 Legions.

300 nits is what you'd expect on a budget laptop.

I made the mistake of buying a Legion on clearance like 3-4 years ago from best buy. Figured I'd deal with the screen or upgrade it myself.

The display was terrible except when using it at night. I had a had time finding a replacement panel and just ended up selling the thing.

I wouldn't touch a laptop with less than 400 nits.
