Which is unfortunate because they call em Sky Pesos for a reason- most of the value you can get out of skymiles anymore are by booking partner flights the 15% off won't apply to..... Booking on Delta metal, outside of the occasional specific sale, is usually hilariously bad value for airline points.

Nothing. The points are with delta, not amex.

Uh- that site is for booking Delta using Virgin points- not Delta points.
As I said- PARTNER awards can get you a good deal-- both booking partners with delta points (where you can't use the 15% off) and using partner points to book Delta (where you also can't use the 15% off)

Last good ones I know where Alaska Air and Chase Sapphire.
Any travel/airline cards still worth applying for?

Most cards are worth doing for the signup bonus in that they offer more return for your intitial spend than you can get any other way.
But flexible travel point cards like from Chase or Amex tend to be better return than ones locked to specific airlines.
Hotel cards can be decent- often offering both a decent signup bonus plus a free annual night or status.
Airline cards tend to come in bottom of the barrel in value because they're locked to a specific airline- but still tend to be better than nothing if you have churning slots open and much of any use for that specific airlines points.... even then I'd tend to value most of em higher than Deltas Sky Pesos.
