What would be a better choice, this Lenovo deal or the recent ASUS zenbook deal for $800

This is a really different laptop. If you don't need the T500 card then the specs on this aren't that great compared to a laptop without a GPU.

Got an open box L14 on ebay for $550 with a Ryzen 7 5875U that blows this way.

Your L14 has no dGPU, so no, it doesn't. You just don't understand the difference between a regular business laptop and a mobile workstation.

Did you see benchmarks?

The CPU speed advantage is huge and more useful. Along with TWO unsoldered memory slots (up to 64 gb vs 48 gb ram on the p14s) the L14 does blow the p14s away.

Buyer beware: I buy Lenovos for my company, and this one has a 65w power supply. This means that it's a smaller battery and you will not get the "up to 9.7 hours" run time as they are advertising. This is one thing that frustrates me with Lenovo's website and I always have to call my Lenovo rep to know the battery size.

Again, you don't seem to understand the difference in use cases. Try again, you're way off the mark.

??? By all benchmarks the L14 is faster than the P14s here (compare CPU and GPU benchmarks, with the huge gap in CPU power, the L14 will provide better graphics performance too) and has more capability as a workstation with the expandable ram.

Stop spreading nonsense on the internet. There's no replacement for the dedicated gpu. Professional design software requires dedicated gpu to run properly.

Prove it with benchmarks.

Why would people have a dedicated GPU if it serves no purpose?

You really don't understand what a Workstation class computer is. This is not a general purpose PC and the Benchmarks have no basis on how it will perform the tasks it was built for. Workstation PCs with dedicated GPUs (NOT Gaming GPUs) are often used for CAD/CAM and other development. A lot of the like SolidWorks and MasterCam rely on the GPUs for rendering and tend to be more important than the CPU. This could always use more RAM but if you are working with CAD/CAM software, this will outperform the other one hands down. Think of it this way will a Lexus outrun a semi? Most likely yes, unless of course, they are both towing a 3-ton trailer
