have this, like it very much. i would say it's equal to the mikasa beach pro but (IMHO) the wilson is longer lasting. i paid $80 for this ball a few months ago and feel that it is well worth it

my last wilson $80 ball (same price for last 15 years) is still usable after 10 years of healthy sand league usage.

my mikasa is ~5 years old and is in worse condition (the rounded shoulders of each panel are scratched off and fuzzy rendering it undesirable to play with.

also - i prefer the yellow to be able to track the ball against differing backgrounds

Good deal. I paid full price on Amazon without pump. Saw mostly everyone had the ball on the beach courts so I didn't hesitate to get the same. Good ball.

Good price for this ball, but, honestly, unless you're a super competitive player, the Mikasa King of the Beach is about $40 and a perfectly acceptable alternative.

I agree. I actually prefer to play with the one you linked versus the one in the original post. Though both are great balls!

The coupon code always applies, it's a promoter code from tri Bourne. So basically with this deal you're getting a free hand pump compared to normal.

When Spalding was making KOTB balls, it was the go to ball for 10 years in high wind areas, the ocean / gulf / great lakes. They had amazing fat panels and thick stitching which was great when setting rules were extremely tight. However, when Mikasa took over KOTB, their redesign went to smooth panels that are also lower grade and very water absorbent.

Mikasa started using lower quality materials and making their "KOTB" ball $40, and their replicas $30 just to take away AVP's market share.

I would say the majority of people who play sand volleyball would be fine with the Mikasa KOTB, but it's pretty rare to see people using them in high end play. It is 90% AVP, 9% Spalding KOTB, and 1% Mikasa KOTB.

The Mikasa's just hold too much water and absorb sweat, and after a few matches, the balance of the balls are no longer true.

Spalding KOTB > Gold AVP > Yellow/White AVP > Mikasa KOTB

Yep, this is like the main ball for beach. The kob one is super rubbery/grippy compared to AVP.
