FYI these deals are usually for non-discounted plans: Magenta, Max, Go5g, Go5g+ (one and simple choice might qualify). Spring customers, military, 55+, metro pcs may not qualify. Either way it's best to confirm if you qualify before adding the line, otherwise it's YMMV if you add it on your own without checking.

Sometimes these deals require going in store and limited time (24-72hrs usually). It's completely free (taxes & fees not included). If you have a tax inclusive plan like magenta, then everything is free (you might still have tax/fees of 10 cents or so... pointing it out since it triggers some people). Free as long as you don't close it. If you removed any lines in past 90 days they must be added before you can add another lime that would be free. If you cancel any lines within 12 months from adding the free line you lose the discount.

You CAN port a number in while adding the free line or later down the road. If you port the number OUT later, you might lose the free line. You can remove lines after 12 months and it won't affect the free line. Generally, you can't get the free line & a free phone promotion, extremely YMMV since it works for a few people, but I wouldn't count on it.

Know the terms and conditions before making a mistake and ranting.

Edit* Terms & Conditions? 'Customers must have the "2023BYOD_P1" segment on their account in Atlas or Tapestry to qualify. Customers with no segment or "2023BYOD_P1 - Inactive" are not eligible. BYOD or FRP purchases only (EIP not eligible for life of line). Device Connection Charge is required.'
These never work with 2 lines for $70 55+ plan. You need to convert to a much more expensive plan to get the "free" one.
As a Tmobile "ONE Plan All in Promo" I've got 2 lines, for which I pay $80. I can never get them to give me a free line add on unless I change my plan to something that's going to cost me more.

Will see if they finally stop including the old legacy plans (e.g. ONE, simple choice), already have 4 free lines (more than number of paid lines lol). Current just one line shy of the max limit for my exact plan.

Anyone know if the rules on moving a phone number (not the line) from one existing T-mo plan to another are still unchanged, basically that you can't do it directly? I'd like to move my mother's phone number (on a paid line) from my sister's T-mo plan to one of my current free lines. Don't want to do a TOU (transfer of responsibility), because I understand that moves a paid line over, and still no way to get mom's number over to one of the free lines.

So planning to port number out to Google Voice first, and then port number back in to my existing line. Only hassle is my mother (in another town) probably doesn't know how to swap SIM's - even if I mail her the new SIM card, she'll need to go into the T-mo store and ask them to do it for her...

I'm curious, if you add free line while non-discounted plan and then move to 55+.
You'll lose free line then, right? Confused

As far as I know, that's still the case. If your mom doesn't really use her phone (older, only uses it to call/text & light data usage) then she probably wouldn't even notice it being Google Voice. Transfer her to google voice and attach it to a phone number, set it up one time and forget about it til you need to do it again.
Only time it doesn't work out is if your mom happens to use iphone, since GoogleVoice will have a green text box.

Most likely, I haven't seen too much info about this. 55+ used to be 2 lines, I believe its 4 lines now. Anyways if you don't meet the terms & conditions anymore I don't see how you'd keep the free line unless it's a system error. At which point, any changes you make might trigger a audit and you'd get it removed.

do you must have at least 2 lines before getting another line for free?
kind of a deal breaker now that t-mo is requiring bank account or debit card for autopay discount

Looks like this is only applicable to accounts with no free lines according to some reddit posts

"Thanks for reaching out to T-Force. That's a great question and 2023 BYOD P1 was a target offer for customers without more than one existing free line. I do see you're taking advantage of a couple already, so this promotion wouldn't be eligible. We're always running new offers, so definitely keep an eye on something that may better suit your account in the future."

I am not eligible for this promo. I received a different response from a T-Force rep, "This limited time offer is a targeted promotion which you must be preselected for."

I am unsure if it is based on other factors like the last free line on us promo that I was able to get. Which maybe disqualifies me from this promo.

It is a bit of a hassle to spend 1 minute to make the payment with your credit card. Just set a reminder on your calendar 2 days before the automatic payment from debit or bank account. This way you can charge it the credit card you want to and receive whatever percentage or mileage points.
