Sometimes these deals require going in store and limited time (24-72hrs usually). It's completely free (taxes & fees not included). If you have a tax inclusive plan like magenta, then everything is free (you might still have tax/fees of 10 cents or so... pointing it out since it triggers some people). Free as long as you don't close it. If you removed any lines in past 90 days they must be added before you can add another lime that would be free. If you cancel any lines within 12 months from adding the free line you lose the discount.
You CAN port a number in while adding the free line or later down the road. If you port the number OUT later, you might lose the free line. You can remove lines after 12 months and it won't affect the free line. Generally, you can't get the free line & a free phone promotion, extremely YMMV since it works for a few people, but I wouldn't count on it.
Know the terms and conditions before making a mistake and ranting.

TMobile One Plan with all lines having the Plus promo and kickback
Anyone know if the rules on moving a phone number (not the line) from one existing T-mo plan to another are still unchanged, basically that you can't do it directly? I'd like to move my mother's phone number (on a paid line) from my sister's T-mo plan to one of my current free lines. Don't want to do a TOU (transfer of responsibility), because I understand that moves a paid line over, and still no way to get mom's number over to one of the free lines.
So planning to port number out to Google Voice first, and then port number back in to my existing line. Only hassle is my mother (in another town) probably doesn't know how to swap SIM's - even if I mail her the new SIM card, she'll need to go into the T-mo store and ask them to do it for her...

I had a lot of difficulty with the last added free line, too complicated to relate what happened here. The gist is that i lost all my free lines in adding the new free one. The problem was corrected with the help of great T Mobile service people.
I have ended up with 9 lines for $90, T Mobile ONE plan. I don't know how I ended up with this deal, but I am likely at the maximum number of free lines on my particular plan.
I may ask, but will not tempt fate..
