I got it added to my simple choice plan and they waived the device connection fee. But even when it is free, it will still cost like 3.50 per month for taxes and fees. So why keep it if you don't need it?
Some people like to brag about the single-digit cost per line.

Awesome, I have been waiting for this offer.
How long do I need to wait before I can make changes to my plan to keep the free line?
I have a family member that may port out in Oct when they move.

One year. You can even ask the rep to give you the exact date when the number of lines can be changed.

My Advantage plus plan (previously SWAC with Sprint) qualifies for the offer. I don't really need another line… debating if I should have one for future use but not sure If I want to pay $35 fee and then monthly taxes on an unused line…

Currently on a 2-line all-in plan for $100 including tax, and I have been with T-Mobile for close to 20 years. The customer service rep I spoke with, first lied saying there is no such promotion then I quoted the Reddit post then she "magically" found the promotion then lied again saying that the promotion is only for business lines. I'm kind of pissed now. I might take my account to some other carrier when I really need a third new line which will be during Christmas time.
Just call 611 again and talk to a different rep

This line is not eligible for free phones for the life of the line, not worth it.
If you were smart, you'd buy a used Gen 1 (which has physical Sim slot) syncup drive on ebay for $15, and get disturbance alert, gas level monitoring, gas price finder, vehicle diagnostic error codes, geofencing alerts, driving behavior/speed alerts, battery alerts, GPS tracking, trip mileage calculations, vehicle hotspot, and other telemetry services all for free (everything they'd normally charge you $10/month for, EXCEPT the Allstate motorclub that's limited to four tows/jumpstarts/etc per year anyway).

All for free.

You have to be smart enough to think outside the bag that the box is inside of.

Buyer Beware. Last time a free line deal was posted here on Slickdeals, I tried taking advantage of it. Called T-Mobile, they insisted my account qualified. They then directed me to add a new line myself via a link they e-mailed me. I was told that I'll get the monthly charge as a line credit.

A month later, I get charged for everything. Their response?

"Well you signed up for this line yourself, and agreed to the charges listed during the order. We can cancel the line, but you are on the hook for the first month"

The previous rep didn't annotate anything to my account like they said they did. Was totally scammed so some outsourced rep could get probably get a commission for "talking me" into getting a new line.

Don't trust their shady overseas reps. Keep calling until you get American

As a Tmobile "ONE Plan All in Promo" I've got 2 lines, for which I pay $80. I can never get them to give me a free line add on unless I change my plan to something that's going to cost me more.
I am in the same situation, I have same plan with the free but I really need 4 lines. I would gladly move to another plan if it did not double my bill but whenever I try it gets me to $140-$160.

Naive question: what do you all do with extra line. As of now, I don't have a need for new line. If my family plan is eligible, should I get an extra free line.
I am on simple choice plan, no previous free lines.
Thanks.

I am just trying to know the benefits of this new line.
I got creative collecting lines. Main goal was to get to 9 lines, which at that point, moneywise AMAZING things happen to your bill. Granted, I'm on old One Plus Promo plan with insider and kickbacks. 1 of my free lines is eligible for kickbacks too. So our family essentially needs 4 lines. With dual sims, I set up the phones to maximize all Kickbacks($8 per line off the bill) 5 KBs per month.. $40 off.. the that aren't eligible for KB are the phones data sum, and the ones that are eligible, are used for phone/text. It was work, and juggling around, but the payoff is ENORMOUS.. like unbelievable....
