FYI these deals are usually for non-discounted plans: Magenta, Max, Go5g, Go5g+ (one and simple choice might qualify). Spring customers, military, 55+, metro pcs may not qualify. Either way it's best to confirm if you qualify before adding the line, otherwise it's YMMV if you add it on your own without checking.

Sometimes these deals require going in store and limited time (24-72hrs usually). It's completely free (taxes & fees not included). If you have a tax inclusive plan like magenta, then everything is free (you might still have tax/fees of 10 cents or so... pointing it out since it triggers some people). Free as long as you don't close it. If you removed any lines in past 90 days they must be added before you can add another lime that would be free. If you cancel any lines within 12 months from adding the free line you lose the discount.

You CAN port a number in while adding the free line or later down the road. If you port the number OUT later, you might lose the free line. You can remove lines after 12 months and it won't affect the free line. Generally, you can't get the free line & a free phone promotion, extremely YMMV since it works for a few people, but I wouldn't count on it.

Know the terms and conditions before making a mistake and ranting.

Edit* Terms & Conditions? 'Customers must have the "2023BYOD_P1" segment on their account in Atlas or Tapestry to qualify. Customers with no segment or "2023BYOD_P1 - Inactive" are not eligible. BYOD or FRP purchases only (EIP not eligible for life of line). Device Connection Charge is required.'

These never work with 2 lines for $70 55+ plan. You need to convert to a much more expensive plan to get the "free" one.

As a Tmobile "ONE Plan All in Promo" I've got 2 lines, for which I pay $80. I can never get them to give me a free line add on unless I change my plan to something that's going to cost me more.

I had added the 3rd free line to this and had it 3 lines for $80. Then in January I added one more line which was supposed to be free but they wouldn't budge and with too much back and forth, finally agreed upon the conversion to new magenta plan for $96 for 4 lines with Netflix. I am happy with it. Since I wanted the 4th line.

Ok nice…did they ask if you already have a phone or can you set that up later?

Also the free 2nd line will have the same perks as the first?
They were not concerned if you already have a phone or not but I was prepared with that. It seems the new line will have the same plan as whatever you have currently. And a new number is ok. They will mail you the sim and add the line to your account maybe in the next day or so.

Where does it say voice only plan?
I believe a few people here mentioned this. Can anyone confirm if this free line is voice only or if you get the same data and hotspot plan as well that's on your existing account.

Is there any downside to getting this if we have zero plans on using it? Worst case I guess is if it messes up any current promotions or ends up not being free I guess.

I don't see any downside. Firstly you can use it to access another T-mobile Tuesday offers. It could be useful sometimes to get a new customer coupons like Microcenter that requires a new cell phone number. Use it as a hotspot? I have kids and in need of another free line but alias did not qualify for this one.

I have my last year's free line in a drawer, waiting for my youngest to be old enough to where I can give him a phone.

We currently have 4 lines, and that is all we need. I pay more then most, Magenta Max, but I am fine.

I just don't want my other promotions to get messed up, or they say this one is free and then it isn't.

Debating if it's worth that gamble.

I have the third line free with magenta max, last years BYOD free, promo for home internet, and the $5 Apple Watch plan. Things balance just fine every month, afraid to screw that up.

Just another data point. I used the t-mobile app to initiate chatting to ask for another free line. I did the same thing last December. This time, the customer service rep first tried to get me to upgrade from Magenta to go5G, even offering to waive the activation fee, stating I'd need to do that to before I could get another free line. I told her I didn't really want to switch from Magenta to go5G because the go5G would be $10 more per month and the only benefit would be 10GB more of hotspot data, which is something I don't need. She went replied with, ok, let me check if I can still get you the free line without changing your plan, and she quickly came back and said she could.

From there on was the same as last December, asking for my CC info before assigning me a number and activating the new SIM. She also still waived the $35 activation fee. One small hiccup is that I didn't have my BYOD phone with me when I was chatting. But the lady went ahead and activated the SIM anyway and just asked me to contact t-moile later to give them the IMEI of my BYOD. Not sure how important that part is, but I figure I'd go ahead and do it later when I get home and have my BYOD with me.

So now I have 2 paid lines and 3 free lines. One free line when I opened my Magenta account wiht 2 paid lines almost 2 years ago, one free line from last December, and now one more.

I also just realized that this is a voice only plan so the 10gb data plan and hotspot will not be added to the the new additional 5th line.Confused
What's your comment?

If you add a voice line it would also include data and hotspot. It would be the same stuff you have with your current voice lines. It is not just added voice only with no data.

If your on simple choice your lines include free unlimited data and hotspot.

This promo does not appear to allow for free data only line used specifically for tablets.
