The 117 doesn't measure micro amps so don't buy it if you plan on HVAC work.
95% of what I test is accomplished with the Fluke 101. It is a great toolbag meter. $45 on Amazon.

Meh.
I'd rather put $160 toward a bench multimeter. $318 I could buy a very nice one.

I've got plenty of portable units that work well enough for the rest of the house. I know better than to stick them on the mains.

That is, besides matching my DeWalt tools, I see no advantage here.

I have an 87V that is fantastic. It is nice having a tool that you can absolutely trust. Fluke is the gold standard in meters for a reason.

For home use, and if you are on a budget, I can recommend the Uni-T UT210. As a bonus, you get a clamp meter which can be handy sometimes.

These are no different than some other decent brands the only reason they charge so much is because companies buy it for government contracts as they have strict requirements to use same brand/model across the board and for years and years.
Recommendations please?

Name brand quality but still overpriced. Can't find any functionality extending beyond the much cheaper copycats on Amazon.. Gramps told me the only outlet meter I'll ever need is a lightbulb XD

Why so expensive? Made in USA or not, multimètre shouldn't be this pricy get Schneider electric metrix or Thompson for less than 30 they do the same job, no wonder we never see these overpriced brands in France people are well educated and such brand won't survive.

Maybe I'm just dumb but isn't this a poor name for a multimeter? It's like naming your graphics card rtx 25fps

I got a 87V about 2 years ago, as a home DIYer, it's overkill. My test case use
90% continuity test (troubleshooting issues with my kids toys/wife small appliances)
9% voltage check on batteries
1% resistance check

If you have true need of the 87V's capabilities, "much cheaper copycats on Amazon" aren't going to cut it.

Simply put, this is a pro-grade tool that goes through a more rigorous QC/testing/certification process than its competition (particularly the cheap no-name Chinese ones you find on Amazon). Fluke is the "gold-standard" for a reason.

This is about as far from a DIYer grade multimeter as you can get. Total overkill and quite inappropriate for DIYers whose needs can be almost certainly satisfied by a ~$50-120 alternative from Klein, Ideal, etc.

That is why Paris looks so grim now. People faint from seeing how it really looks now.
