They add dextrose, no need to add that. It will spike your insulin, if you're diabetic, I would avoid this.

Sometimes you need some quick stock, but try this too:

Go to Sam's or Costco. Buy a rotisserie chicken. Eat the wings and drumsticks for a meal. Turn the chicken breasts into chicken salad or shred for something like enchiladas for another couple meals. Throw the carcass in a pot. Throw in any leftover veggies in the fridge like the end of celery or onions. Cover it in water and simmer a couple hours. Strain it and you'll have such good stock you'll never want to use the boxed stuff unless you run out.

You'll get the basis for 10-20 meals for a little over $5.

It would spike your insulin whether you are diabetic or not, but then again insulin spikes in meals are necessary for nutrient uptake. It would not have a high glycemic load like straight dextrose or white bread because it is consumed with predominantly protein and fats which have to be considered. Dextrose is most likely added to create a more hyperosmotic solution without having to add excessive salt, and it has the side benefit of thickening the stock to be more like a higher quality stock like I described in the post above this.
