Decent deal, but I was never a fan of the U cpu's. If you're a power user, you're better off getting something with the P CPU's. If you really like this form factor, the XPS13 Plus comes with the P.

It's not just that it's a U-series processor, but it's the lowest-powered kind (ends with a 0 instead of 5). Performance is fine for office apps and browsing, but nobody needs to spend $830 for that.
The rest of the laptop is just too compromised - 2 USB-C ports and that's it, not even headphone jack, not only the RAM but also the SSD is soldered and non-upgradable, and for all that it's not super light - e.g., compare Pavilion Aero which is 2.2 lbs for the same size and costs way less, with a lot more ports.

But to be fair, Pavillion is their lowest line by HP while XPS is Dell's highest consumer line.

Right, the XPS 13 will feel nicer in the hand. The Pavilion Aero is nicer than the average Pavilion though - it's made of aluminum/magnesium alloy to achieve the super light weight.

Under $600 with similar specs, and a much better-performing (and more efficient) Ryzen 7535U (Zen 3+).
Nice for the price, but when i had the LG gram, the weight was great but the magnesium alloy really feels cheap with lots of screen flex. The reviews say the same of the aero. For the price is good, butthe build quality is definitely not XPS level, not by a long shot.

That's not a matter of quality but of physics. Aluminum flexes less than magnesium but it's also heavier. But that doesn't mean magnesium is any less durable - it's probably more durable. We've been conditioned by Apple to think aluminum = premium, but magnesium is actually more expensive.

I was preaching this same Kool aid, until both hinges are on the verge of breaking. I was so disappointed considering it was never dropped. It was not even a 2 in 1.

I would think flexing the screen will make it more prone to cracking the screen.

Anyways i am not debating the value of the aero, I think it's great for the price. Magnesium does have its perks for sure. But after owning the LG Gram for a bit, I have come to realize that magnesium alloy may be durable but it feels cheap, like indistinguishable from plastic to most if not all people. Perhaps that is fine for what you are paying for the aero, but not at the price tag of the Gram. Combine that with the hollow feel because of its lightness and it really feels cheap.
I followed that with a Samsung Galaxy Book S. It was aluminum, extremely thin, 13" touchscreen, no screen flex, weighed 2.0 lbs, and feels extremely premium. It's not the fastest processor, but it shows that you can make an aluminum premium-feeling laptop at a low to reasonable weight. It is still my favorite travel laptop. I just don't think I am going back to magnesium alloy.
Getting back to this deal, my 8 year old XPS is still holding up very well chassis wise. The only issue it had was a swollen battery which I have replaced (very disappointed in Dell for not having a replacement available battery, had to go non OEM), but otherwise the laptop and chassis is holding up well. I hate that pretty all of the 13-14 inch XPS now only have a couple of usb-c ports and no usb-a.

I think if you use Dell's Power Manager to limit the charge to 80 or 90%, the battery will wear more slowly and should be far less likely to swell.

Also, the coupon code mentioned is totally wrong. It's 'ARMMPPS' which brings it down to the mentioned price.
