lol there seems to be some lost in translation and understanding

that is made with glutinous/sweet rice. Yes, it is also sticky. And also called sticky rice. But it is a whole different type of rice grain. And the only rice that doesn't really stick naturally is basmati and whatever uncle Bens is.

And Jasmine rice is the midway point for stickiness and grain length

To the rest of the potato-starchers in the thread: This is just general purpose rice that is consumed by East and most Southeast Asians

Yes, this rice can be used for sushi, but it technically wouldn't be sushi rice until it is prepped/seasoned with rice vinegar and some sugar. Nishiki also sells the bottle of sushi rice vinegar that pairs with this lol

Been ordering the 15 pound bags from Amazon for 20 years - this special on the ten lb is a better deal.

Ordered a bunch last time at similar price but for some reason this rice (not expired) has random black or brown specs in it where my 15lb bags of Nishiki from the grocery store are clean... I don't get it.

Its ants and other pests that are in your rice.

A serving of 1/4 cup of uncooked rice provides 150 calories, 3 gram of protein and 33 gram of carbohydrates.
Thanks for that factoid. I can now eat it without any guilt.

This particular brand and style of rice is recommended by many cooks for sushi. I've been meaning to try some proper rice for it. Thanks!

Costco usually sells 50lb bags of another brand of these types of rice for less than $50. They taste good to me. They used to be sold for less than $30, but that was before inflation.

or fear it's something toxic. It's just extra protein for free.

I always get those tiny bugs inside Nishiki bags. There's like millions of them.... now I don't buy them anymore.

Just throw the bag in the freezer it will kill the bugs. That just increase the protein content.

It is true about the bugs. Every time I'd ordered nishiki from amazon it's had them, but I can go down to the local H mart or whole foods and the rice is clean, and the same price.

There's nothing special about the price on this item, no idea why it's even being discussed on SD right now
