Have had one of these for a year now and it's simply amazing for the price.

Clear text, great colors, HDR is really great, good blacks, good refresh rate and no ghosting. Outside of wanting oled, couldn't ask for better performance

No, it is just the panel type. Each panel type has different strengths and weaknesses. I prefer VA over IPS.

VA has pros and cons over IPS. It's really down to personal preference. This monitor gets pretty good reviews all over the net. Here is a solid review on RTINGS:

They have several other deals on monitors as well.

Thanks, OP. Bought this last month for $40. Today was literally the last day to return or get the price adjustment.

Amex offer spend 600 get 120 back if you need more things
I only have spend $200+ get $40 back. I guess I used that $120/$600 deal already last Christmas and AMEX does not give the same deal to me anymore.

Tempting with by $40 off $200 Amex deal, but with a VA and no G-sync module, I think I'm passing on this. Not a big enough upgrade from my Acer x34.

It doesn't have the official G-Sync compatibility badge but G-sync does work on this monitor. There were issues reported with G-Sync if it drops below 60 FPS but perhaps that's no longer an issue.

The black smearing on this one was too much for me to deal with. I have a 4070 ti and was looking for a monitor to play Diablo 4 on. Ended up returning it, pretty big disappointment after the decent RTings review on this one.

Wait, this exact monitor was on Amazon for $320 just 2 days ago? Thumbs DOWN! https://slickdeals.net/f/16745645-34-dell-s3422dwg-wqhd-144hz-va-curved-freesync-led-gaming-monitor-319-99-f-s-amazon?v=1&src=SiteSearch
That deal was for sure a price mistake. I got the alert at 5am my time and by 8 am when I tried to buy it, it was back to 450.

How would you seamlessly switch between two PCs (say personal and work) using this monitor?

I see there is an upstream USB but I don't understand how that would be used to switch over the peripherals connected to the USB ports.

Which monitor did you end up going with after this?

How is this for mixed use? Gaming (sim racing), photo editing, occasional other office work?

edit from research:
Looks like a great deal if you calibrate colors, use displayport, and keep above 60fps with superfast overdrive.
https://www.rtings.com/monitor/re...l/s3422dwg
VA = limited viewing angles but good brightness and contrast
Good sRGB after calibration
1800r curve is relatively low curvature
Problems with VRR/Gsync if dropping below 60
Uses overdrive to offset slower panel, more effective at higher refresh
BFI / MPRT disables VRR and locks overdrive
No HDMI 2.1
No USB-C or KVM

In for one of these, as I've been looking to upgrade from two 1080p 24" monitors when I put together a new build in a few weeks.

Also, my Bank of America Rewards credit card had a 5% reward on Dell/Intel purchases available to be activated, so it could be worth checking your available rewards options prior to purchase.
