A solid deal. The only con I see is the display - I think spending an additional $90 and getting the QHD 240hz display will be well worth it.

I recently picked up an Envy 16 with similar specs (13900H, 4060 8GB, QHD 120hz) from Best Buy open box for a slightly lower price. I personally prefer the form factor of Envy, but Omen will have better cooling and performance.

Honestly 1080p @ 16 inches sounds doable. Obviously QHD would be better but maybe it will help with the longevity of the rtx 4060 although 1080p can be quite reliant on the CPU rather than gpu

I think for a 4060 laptop, a 1080p screen is fine since it's suited for higher settings 1080p gaming anyway.

For me that's not a dealbraker, I mostly play in a 2k wide-screen external monitor, so no need for a 2k display. But thanks, that makes me think that this deal is for me.

This is a pretty great deal. I actually have a laptop on a FedEX truck on the way ($1500, dragonfly pro). The specs here are much better, but cheese and rice is 16" a gargantuan laptop at 5+ pounds it's quite the beast. I can't handle that big of a machine as a "laptop" but damn I kinda want to cry thinking that it has a 4060…
A full TDP 4060 is equivalent to a full TDP 3070, I know ive done the benchmarks between a lenovo legion 5 pro 140 watt 3070 and my Helios Neo 140 watt 4060. the massively increased L2 Cache actually does a pretty great job here, given that its only a 128 bit memory bus:

The scores in TimeSpy are:
RTX 4060 = 10,600 graphics score - average power use 95 watts
RTX 3070 = 10,900 graphics score - average power use 135 watts.

Add in RTX/DLSS/Frame Gen tech and the 4060 easily pulls ahead, which we will see a lot more of this tech moving forward.
The 4060 Ti got a lot of hate and deservedly so, but the 4060 is actually pretty decent and as a mobile chip its got insane efficiency over the previous gen for comparable performance. I think this is lost on many in the blind hatred towards the 4060. Having a significantly lower power consumption is also great for the CPU, as it will help keep temps low and allow more thermal and power headroom.

I own two OMEN laptops, a 15 from 2020 and a 17 from 2022/23. Both are cheaply built but hold up OK if you don't abuse them. They also look cheap and attract finger prints. I don't know other HP models other than OMEN and elitebooks, which are business quality and built with bright/gray metal/metal-looking chassis and look and feel premium. You're looking at a hunk of black plastic if you get an OMEN.

Personal opinion: I can work with a 15" laptop screen at 1080P, CAD design and coding. I wish to have more space or resolution for more lines of code or less zooming for CAD designs. With my 17" QHD (2560*1440), not turning on windows scaling is causing extreme eye strains. You could try out such resolution at your local electronics store to see if this is helping or hindering your use case.

BTW, I have gotten used to working on a 27" QHD which is a plus because I can see CAD designs without excessively zooming in and can still read code without using windows scaling. I used to do this work on a 1080p 27" monitor. Now I don't think I can go back.

Its big, hot, and not yours. Kinda like that nice booty that walked by you earlier today. At least you have a chance to make this yours.
