Lots of fuel cash back this month. Chase Freedom is EV charging and gas stations. Discover is also gas stations. Can stack this with Amex Blue Cash 3% gas.

I'm curious how more expensive is the premium fuel and if actually there's a saving for those who usually buy regular.

I was wondering the same. I always use 87, no 85, so it's a deal to me, but I don't know how it would be for someone that buys the cheapest grade.

In my area gas at one Mobil station is $3.49 for regular and $4.59 for premium.
If you max out the Amex savings and spend exactly $25 at the pump
you'll get 5.45 gal of premium,
with the $5 back that comes out to $3.67 per gallon.
So still more than paying straight for regular.
Add to that the possible 5% cashback also on regular with Discover or Chase this quarter
and it's really only a deal for people that pump premium anyway.

I've been seeing a $0.60 - $1.10 post-pandemic spread between 87 and 93 at local Mobil stations. The one with the $0.60 spread is an outlier and I try to fill up our car that uses premium there when I'm in the area. Premium at the Shell station across the street from that Mobil is easily $1.30+ more than the regular unleaded.

I tried it twice, with a $26 and a $27 fuel purchases, but I am not seeing the credit being triggered. (normally I will receive an alert once a qualified purchase was made)
