Both are good brands, as is makita. There is nothing wrong with ryobi either.

Ryobi is going to lower price point, but for most weekend DIYers, they are fine.

Milwaukee has tool deals pop up on here constantly, which many "hack" to build up a tool line at a lower price point.

Dewalt deals pop up as well, just not as much, and then makita even less so.

If you are someone who works with cordless tools often or moves job locations, sticking with one or two brands means you aren't toating around multiple battery packs/chargers (storage/weight).

I have makita, dewalt and milwaukee myself which allows me to make use of 3 battery platforms and the deals that may pop-up for a tools I want.. I mean NEED..yeah need.

I went with this over the DeWalt Atomic. This drill delivers more torque and higher RPM than the DeWalt.

I have this tool, which came in a different set. After five years, it is my favorite drill and a work horse. The battery I also have and version is pretty good, makes the drill lighter than the larger version battery by half the weight, but I have used up the battery over a long day project, so may need to recharge if you plan to use it over a long period of time. The charger itself has held up only until last year, which I replaced. I think it shorted because I was using the tool replacing a gutter during those amazing California rains. I thought I dried the battery well enough, but when I tried to charge the battery nothing happened. The battery still works after that, so I just replaced the charger.

Milwaukee sales this time around at HD aren't as strong as the past i.e. two M18 batteries for $99 with charger are the 3.0 batteries. I picked up a pair of 5.0 batteries with charger for the same price December 2021

If you're a homeowner and don't need top of the line, the Ryobi deal (two 4.0 batteries, charger, free tool,$99) at Depot is probably a better deal

I personally like that this deal does have a charger and only has one battery. Often I'd see deals lacking a charger (important if you are just getting into the M18 line) on just a tool or deals with good tool prices + charger that have 2-3 batteries which is just excessive. Buy Tool + Free Battery, Buy 2 Batteries + Free Tool or something like that are extremely common deals where people end up with extra batteries just to get the lower tool price. Just my thoughts.

If you are on the fence, buy it while it's at this price and then shop around to see if you find a better deal on a package. I believe HD has a 90-day return policy on unopened merchandise.

Is this the same as the M18 Fuel (which is also brushless)? Or is this the "Regular" M18 line, just brushless?
