I think what happened is that AMD couldn't sell the RX 6400 by itself because it was widely received very poorly (generally considered an embarrassment for the price) as it lacked ports and basic features like a dedicated video encoder (something even GT 730's have) so any video capture or streaming needed to be handled by the CPU of any system it was in if that system didn't have integrated graphics, and also lacked the ability to run hardware acceleration for applications like Google Chrome. So I reckon they cut a deal with OEM's to pair it with budget systems that used their G-series processors.

The amusing thing here is that the RX 6400 needs PCI-E 4.0 to reach full-performance. It suffers huge performance losses in many games when slotted into a PCI-E 3.0 system... and here's the amusing part: the 5600G and in-fact all AMD G-series processors (of that generation) are not PCI-E 4.0 capable, so regardless of being slotted into a PCI-E 4.0 capable motherboard, the system will be limited to 3.0 speeds.

So in the end you get a cheap system that looks initially like an okay value, but in fact what you're getting is a system with inherent conflicting compatibilities and is actually quite a bit more disappointing than you might expect.

Eh, it's an ok deal. This has been cheaper as a refurbished and with the better RX 5500XT and comes back in and out of stock.

This is a tiny PC and looks like it'll fit in an entertainment center. Thinking about getting this as a HTPC and use as a steam link and emulation. The RX 6400 is pretty capable and can play just about any game at 1080p med-high settings and can emulate up to the nintendo switch in 4k for some games.

I didn't even know the RX6400 was a thing.
Probably because it came out last year and is worse than a 970 or 1650. Idk why it's a thing.

hdmi and displayport, looks like just one of each on the rx 6400 where some of the higher end options in that lineup will have 3 displayports.
It's important to know that the GPU itself only has two ports -one HDMI and one DisplayPort. The rest of the ports will route through the integrated graphics directly from the motherboard, and you may run into issues running more than two monitors due to it.

Could I put my old gtx 970 in this and would it be worth the price/performance?
If you already have the graphics card and a Micro Center nearby, they are selling a similar Ryzen 5 5600 CPU with a motherboard for $199. Since the prices of SSDs are falling, you could probably get the rest of the components (aside from a Windows license) for another $200 and probably have more storage and memory along with a standard PSU with enough power to future proof your setup unlike this Victus pre-built.

BTW, this deal is not a phantom. I saw one at the Union NJ store yesterday afternoon and it showed as $399 at the store, but $479 online. I didn't buy it as I didn't need it. So if you live in Jersey, there is a chance it is still there. Happy hunting.

Can this thing handle oculus 2?
That's a BIG maybe on low settings, because the GPU is only 4gb and I believe 6gb is generally the lowest recommended. But it'll also highly depend on the game. In all likelihood, you'll also need to bump up to 16gb RAM. Also have no idea the PSU rating in this rig, so upgrading GPU would be a crapshoot.

TLDR: I wouldn't buy this to play VR.

I've seen another victus with a processor with integrated graphics (5700g) have that HDMI plugged off from the factory. I'm not exactly sure how things work with adding a graphics card with a processor that has integrated graphics but I definitely wouldn't bank on running more than the two graphics card ports for monitors. It kind of seems like they got a deal on these integrated graphics processors/motherboards but couldn't sell units without an actual graphics car so there's all these slightly mismatched setups on sale as a 5600x benchmarks 42 spots above a 5600g.

If you want to use the iGPU on the 5600g you can also use the motherboard VGA and HDMI ports. I have the Pavilion branded version of this and use the iGPU for testing.

I don't think most 970s will fit in this thing and/or that it has a sufficient PSU.

Go to build a PC forum and ask there for help. You should be able build a nice barebones for $400.
Why wouldn't it fit? It says it's a 15-liter desktop. That's should mean plenty of room on the inside, right?

Here's a link to a video of what will fit according to power source…

No dual channel RAM and a RX 6400? Considering how the 780M performs in the laptop APU's, this price isn't doing much for me in 2023. The 5600G is a solid chip, but no dual-channel for AMD processors is kind of a non-starter.
Spend $20 for another 8GB stick and this would be a nice Minecraft/Fortnight,Roblox computer for a kid or as a basic workstation for anyone else.. Would be hard pressed to build anything like this for the price.

It breaks my brain a bit that they included a "G" series CPU. Onboard Intel GPU's tend to be more modest chips, aimed at productivity. AMD's "G" series seems aimed at light gaming. It feels like a waste to bundle a more expensive "G" series CPU with a discrete GPU.

Sure, a customer adding a discrete GPU after the fact is a very normal scenario. But why not sell the system with something like a Ryzen 5600 or 5600X?

I swapped the 6400 for an RTX 2060 and it fits fine. Not only that, I sold the 6400 for the same price I paid for the 2060 so it was a free upgrade.
