Made in China for this pair apparently. Just fyi.
These are made in Germany. I purchased a pair with the specs showing country of orgins China, when I received them it showed Germany. The pictures in the reviews show Germany as well.

We're old men & about worn out now, but my friend's life-long career was in the textile business. When China "opened up", he had a contract for them to make some shirts w/ 100% cotton, and showing so, of course, on the label. The fist batch he inspected had the label, for sure, but it was not 100% cotton material. When he queried them, they responded w/ "oh, you mean you actually want it made of 100% cotton." Those folks there have been doing business for a couple thousand years or more and are slicker than eel you-know-what. Good price & sold/shipped by Amazon (still would buy Doyle at HF for half price). Repped, OP.
I'd be leery of these, as the reviews show what appears to be some knockoffs and not genuine German made Knipex.
I've got a similar pair of genuine Knipex and the jaws open to about 2.5". They open slightly more than that, but you lose all leverage beyond 2.5".
Your oil filter is likely wider than this.
Naturally, I'm sure you realize oil filters shouldn't be installed/tightened with a pliers or wrench. But for removal I've used various tools, including groove joint pliers, depending on ease of access and tightness.
wth I want knipex with button control and smaller spacing between nothces
That's the pair I got recently and they are f'in AWESOME! I will never go back to the large groove, no locking button crap no matter where they're made.
