Unclear VPN data collection policies.

They appear to be using Google Analytics to collect anonymized data. In addition, they collect Apache Webserver logs.
As seems to be the case with most US-based services, the Terms of Service is full of legalese protecting the company from liability and binding the user to the terms of the DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act).

It would be helpful if the company provided more details on the data it collects, including how long it retains such data. This is particularly important in light of where the company is based.

Based in the US (bad privacy jurisdiction).

This is Honeypot?

Mullvad/ Mozilla/Firefox VPN (rebranded millvad) best for privacy from what I read. Same cost every month, definitely not the cheapest. No email is required. Not based In US. Nord isn't based in US, but one should be weary of the marketing and no one really knows who runs it. I recall reading torguard isn't the best for privacy (any US based vpn is terrible for any privacy). This is just some of what I found and concluded from my extensive research 2 years ago. I pay for Nord long term and periodically pay for a few months of Mullvad depending on what I'm doing. I take a few months off and go back to my $20/year Nord for a bit in the interest of saving some cash.

They do have a peer to peer option. They also have a lot of connection options (locations). My main suggestion is to use the OpenVPN app and skip the Nord software. They have way WAY too many "updates" and I just feel OpenVPN is more capable. Also prevents them from getting extra data from my comp if they try to.

Largest discount I've seen. Streaming bundle is great for streaming. Dedicated IP that always works. Been using it for 5+ years and only had it replaced once when IP stopped working.

It's about $200 for 2 years before discount so about $30/year after discount.

I'm midway through my 2 years under a 55% discount code. I was able to get the 70% discount by opening a ticket. Requirement was to renew early before code expires so they issued a early renewal invoice for me to pay. Now all future renewals is 70% off.

By streaming, do you mean you are the one streaming your video to the internet (ex. twitch) and not watching streaming content like Netflix? Their site doesn't make it clear exactly what it's for.

Did you benchmark the difference you saw once you added the streaming option to Torguard?

Me too.

Speeds are pretty slow though, torrents are ok but any kind of videos are pretty slow and will often default to 480-720p. They occasionally have trouble connecting to servers. It doesn't shut down correctly when you shut down Windows and throws a bunch of errors preventing shufdown, I contacted their support, they don't give a sht. Every time I launch it it throws errors about being unable to retrive some proxy list or smth, again CS is pretty much useless so I just ignore it. All these issues been persisting for years for me with all their versions. Kind of 3rd world programming I'd say.

I rarely torrent anything so its value is pretty small to me, I just bought it with a lifetime 50% off discount so I keep it. It aint bad but aint great either.

But with discount I would still recommend it. Gets the job done.

Contacted support, only the USA servers

Hello - please refer to the following Torguard blog entry regarding this issue:

https://blog.torguard.net/why-tor...s-servers/

Note that the block only applies to our US based servers - all non-US based server ranges are still fine for this purpose.

Kind regards

So we can use non-USA servers but that will undoubtedly slow speeds amirite?
