I had a 500 gb and most of the video files I had were not playable! I don't know what was the cause. Maybe all that encryption.

That's seems odd, did you figure out a solution?

Yes it does. You can use the default exFat or erase to use a Mac specific format. I just purchased a "refurbished" unit in another SD for $53 and reformatted it to APFS (encrypted) on my MacBook Pro M2. Works like a charm. I don't use the Samsung software and instead just use Disk Utility to manage the disk.

I'd recommend looking at the other SD and saving a little more coin vs this brand new option. The refurbished ones are just used (usually by Geek Squad or a customer return) and wiped before being sold.

My understanding is you have to install and run the Samsung software pre-loaded on the drive to enable encryption.

If you buy direct from Samsung, you may be eligible for an additional 10% off with govt/student/first responder discounts (Samsung Offers Program).

This is a great drive for Tesla/Rivian. I have one in my Tesla and just purchased another for my upcoming R1S delivery.

PS4 yes. PS5 only to play PS4 games. Xbox series only to play non series gen games.
You don't need a SSD for the above, can use a much cheaper external drive around $30.
