This is designed to be a thin client, and doesn't look like it includes the Dell ThinOS. You will be a sad camper of you buy this for personal use or even business use unless you have a ThinOS license agreement.

For $59 got one A grade to play around with. The screen and backlit keyboard are stellar. But of course the low HD storage is an issue. Loaded Window 10 N and had about 1gb of free space after I removed the recovery partition to free up more space as well as some apps. To browse the internet with an extra laptop its doable certainly not too awfully slow with the Celeron processor. It was a fun experiment and not totally with some added value to have an extra laptop in a spare room for browsing. This worked but I'm thinking of adding a larger SSD.
ADDED NOTE: for $15 got a 256GB SSD and added it to the empty slot. Added Windows 10 and no longer have to use the 16gb OEM SSD with so little storage space. Now perform a dual boot and default to the new 256GB SSD. For a few bucks I'll add another 4gb of memory. A fun experiment getting a spare laptop for under $100 with backlit keyboard. The battery life is surprisingly quite good.

Any chance Ubuntu works with this machine? Read somewhere that wyse systems might be locked to ThinOS
I got one and it's a great value. No moving parts, big heat sink, one empty ram slot, big battery, and m.2 slot on top of 16GB emmc. I put a 1TB ssd and another 4Gb RAM in it and installed linux mint.
It's not locked down in any way, the BIOS has a ton of configurability. It can even boot from an SD card! I took a picture of the guts I will try to upload.
I should add that I plan to use mine as a home server. Home assistant, pihole, genmon, maybe a few game servers. The built in battery is a huge win for these use cases since power blips stop being a problem, and the entire system cost less than a UPS!
The BIOS even lets you configure the battery to stop charging at x%, I set mine to 80% to prolong battery health.

Super helpful thanks! No OS lockdown is a green light for me and the upgradability is a sweet bonus. In for one.
For $60 I can keep this laptop in the car as a backup for basic computing during roadtrips.
It's also great for guest in a Airbnb unit. Not too worry of it being abused / stolen. Plus the usb-c connects to the a dell monitor with usb-c DP alternate mode + power delivery. So actually in for 2.

Yeah! It charges from usb-c too. It also has a surprisingly nice screen… it's listed as TN, but the viewing angles seem great to me. Brightness isn't crazy , but fine for indoors
I'd recommend against installing windows though. Too much going on in the background will tax the CPU really quickly

is the back cover easy to remove for RAM and SSD upgrade? any tips to make the job easier? There is 1 extra empty slot for RAM right? The M.2 SSD is nvme or sata?

It's PCIE 2.0 nvme, I don't have a sata ngff drive to try.
The machine is essentially a dell business model, so it is very easy to take apart and work on. You will have no problem getting into it, that even has the screws that stay on the bottom plate and don't come out so you do not lose them. One empty and one populated ram slot on mine.
The bios lists an empty sata slot but I didn't see anything, so it's probably not actually there.

got my laptop today.
Update the bios.
Open back cover to install RAM (4GB) and M.2 2280 SSD (500GB). The SSD is too long. It doesnt fit the screw post. So I just use double side tape.
Install Windows Tiny 11.
So far so good.

Same - got my laptop for a couple days and experimented a few things. Got huge performance out of it with tuning. Works perfectly with both Ubuntu and full fledged Windows 11.
Upgraded ram to 2x4GB = 8GB for $9 bucks; bought this from ebay, this is listing: https://www.ebay.com/itm/186075356825
Added a basic used/open box 256gb M.2 SSD for $6 bucks, bought it from here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product...UTF8&psc=1
The Celeron 4100 (Gemini) is TDP power limited to 6W, so it struggled a bit running windows 11. But there are well known discussions to raise the TDP to 10~15W using ThrottleStop and, more conveniently, with the RWEverything program + batch script - here's the reference: https://techtablets.com/forum/top...0/page/15/
(To learn more - I suggest google search the phrase "WRMSR 0x610 0x0 0x00DD8F00 0")
Long story short, by creating a startup task that runs batch script with 2 lines
The first line removes the power limit level 2.
The second line sets the TDP to 15W.
The CPU pretty much runs at turbo boosted speed of 2.4Ghz all the time at mostly below 63 degrees C (Really thanks to the big heat sink of this Wyse 5470). Windows 11 is very responsive and usable, even watching 4k youtube videos.
Was also able to make use of the USB-C as a single cable solution to connect to the Dell ultrawide monitor for data, video and power delivery running 3440 x 1440 resolution. The laptop has no problem driving that screen.

Maybe this would be a good prop? Or a digital picture frame?

Actually, being the same price as Raspberry Pi. I want one since it has battery/screen/keyboard extra
