Battery life is so-so, and the Gen 1 isn't HDR. 11th gen CPU? Meh. The best that can be said for this is that the gen 3 is barely improved over the gen 1, but Lenovo isn't really updating the platform. If they had, I'd happily pay more for everything I want. And this isn't touch.
For the money, if you're happy without touch, a MacBook Air M1 is going to be better.
what about PC equivalent. i run alot of windows only apps
edit: macbook air m1 for $750 is also only 8GB and 256gb storage, which even if i didn't have to run windows software would be pretty limited i think.
Is it worth to pay $50 extra for i7-1160G7 over i5-1130G7? It seems that this i7 is not much better than i5-1130G7 performance-wise based on reviews. TIA.

The i7 has more EUs for better integrated graphics performance and extra cache if that's something you need, for daily use though this is probably not going to matter so it might be better to save the $50 with the i5. I have this same laptop (just with the touchscreen) and apart from being only 4 hyperthreaded cores, Lenovo's pushing about 30W of power to this chip if cooling is sufficient.

Not sure why someone would suggest to people looking at Lenovo laptop a MacBook as a better alternative?
Very different operating system, eco-system, software, hardware, sub-culture and price level.

Oh 8gb of ram IS very limiting. Sure, you get someone saying "blah blah blah M1 architecture makes 8gb feel like 16gb". Nope. No it doesn't. I have a 16gb M1 Air, and I peg that thing to the max on a routine basis. The 16gb feels like....16.

It's the culture of the internet. "So, I need X,Y, and Z. What would you suggest?" "Oh, here's something that can do A!" But....that doesn't meet ANY of my needs!e You're welcome.

i think its ok to suggest whatever as long as it gets the job done...do you use your cpu? i heard apple cpus kick butt compiling programs.

for the fastest compile time? apple is a real option when it comes to cpus..maybe you didn't know.

i don't think ibuythingshere is serious about saving money if he says he will never give up gates...i am currently working on an AMD threadripper but 10 years ago it was a fully upgraded macbook pro (company issue). before M1 and M2 apple had fast SSD. power users can also be slickdealers, even at $750
