No need to soak them like the previous poster. Wipe them down with paper towels and it will effectively eliminate the smell. Mine had a greasy coating on them, which wiping down took off and with it the smell.

Sold and shipped by Amazon. I think these are the same ones sold at Walmart. I snagged a 160 lb set few months back and I love them.
They shipped each plate individually. The package was destroyed on some plates but my plates were unharmed. They came in with a strong plastic smell. I put them in my bath tub with soap/water/vinegar for 2 days. That eliminated 90% of the smell. After 1-2 weeks the smell is pretty gone.
I tried to dry one of the plates with a towel after washing and the writing came off, so let them dry naturally then wipe the soap with paper towel or something.
But as a weight set, they are great. I don't do Olympics lifts, the most stress they go through is likely during my deadlift and they feel solid. Definitely don't use the 10s on their own. If you're just starting or warming up and need to deadlift 65, put the j-hooks on the lowest position in your rack.

I don't drop my weight, but I have good experience with these.

I would not buy the set with the bar though, as they have other versions, that will work just as well, for less money.

Every bumper plate I have bought new I have just let sit out in my garage for a few days and gas off the smell.

Got these from Walmart on last slick deal. Took the cerakote coating off my rogue Ohio bar sleeves. Not completely, but scratched it good… make a weird sound going on the bar and damage was done.

Returned them asap

The Tru Grit plates from Walmart deal worked fine on my fancy bar.

If you have a cheaper bar/chrome bar, these should be fine.

I have seen these and similar bumper plates under 3 different names, balance form, signature fitness and everyday essentials. It's confusing as they often show pics with the weights stamped with a different name than what is in the listing and use the same listing and reviews when selling each of the 3 names. These do look just like black versions of the bumper plates I got from Walmart for 1$/lbs that was also listed as 'signature fitness'. Mine are stamped with the correct name though. They came in absolutely perfect shape I was really impressed. Walmart sells a very similar 'everyday essentials' version that has wider steel hubs which are far inferior imo. I saw them in store and they are way more flimsy and look to get beat up extremely quickly. I would avoid those, but if these are the ones I got I highly recommend.

When did weights get pricey? I bought some around 20 years ago and they were about $20 for 75 lbs worth with handles at Walmart.
These are bumpers so they are going to be much more expensive. That said, you have heard of inflation right?

I like bumpers for 3 reasons. Their sound, much quieter. I can drop them if I need to without too much worry about the weights. Third reason is all the weights are the same size which is important for good form.

And why 55lb plates?

Tempted even though I have a bunch of iron plates (and one 35lb bumper pair)

I just dont know if i have much room to store this. Unless i decide to keep it in my garage for doing deadlifts outside instead of my basement gym

Inflation wouldn't account for so much of a difference. It would only be about $33 now in this case. (not exactly sure about it tbh)

The bumper bit makes more sense.
It's literally the definition of inflation

I ordered these from walmart a few weeks ago. For the price they are good. Cons: indents on face of plate are quite shallow and combined with the slick platicy surface makes these very challenging to impossible to securely hold in one hand. But if u are careful moving them they are good.

lol........I have a bridge to sell you if you think inflation over the past 20 years would make $20 into $75

Wow....lol
This is basically MSRP being disguised as a deal, but it's a staff post so you know its terrible.
