Awesome doorbell. I have two of these paired with their NVR. Most functional use is to immediately see who rang my doorbell. My phone received the notification about two seconds after my doorbell rings.

It also works well as a security camera with its hi def image. It's quite easy to isolate and view recorded video triggered by people, cars, or pets.

Plus, no subscription fees. So a no brainer for folks who have PoE and no need for active paid security monitoring.

FYI, I also have the Reolink Duo spotlights in the front and back of the house as well as E1 Pros coming in soon. That's how much I like their ecosystem.

Just got some reolink cameras and switched from ring. Its good hardware and the apps are nice however their notifications are lacking and so is their motion tagging. The notifications are text only and their motion tagging is a "time block" so you might have to watch 5 minutes (ability to speed it up is there) to see what happened in the past. The rich notifications are part of their subscription. So i guess you CAN get them but its costs extra

Good hardware and no mandatory subscription which is nice

Standalone with SD card, no subscription, is it dumbed down without $$$ subscription?

Just a reminder, this is a wired doorbell cam, with no wireless available.

Only function lost without the cloud besides storage is the rich notifications.

Yes slightly, you get text notifications instead of rich notifications with images

Definitely interesting and would go PoE route but not sure how hard it would be to fish an Ethernet wire where the doorbell is now.

I didn't like it and returned mine. The chime transmits wirelessly to a receiver you put in the house. It won't work with an existing chime. I have glass panels on the sides of my doors. I could see the receiver through the glass just 5 feet away inside the house. All too often the chime wouldn't ring. The integration with the Reolink NVR and picture quality was a plus. Bought mine directly from Reolink and they gave me a hard time about returning it but ultimately took it back. My current video doorbell works with the existing time and due to reolinks stance of 3rd parties they won't allow it to intergrade into the NVR.

Btw is motion detection connected with door bell button or can I just use existing bell but the camera still detect motion without pushing button?

Get the New, 128 GB, you need an Endurance SD card, it's more like a real hard drive, error correction hardware on board. On sale $12.99 for 128GB.
The more capacity the less wear for the same amount of writing as it's over a bigger capacity. Cost of SD vs capacity vs wear, your call.. 64GB is the lowest you should go because of wear.

Many car dash cams get bad reviews because a standard SD card was used. These endurance cards used to be way more expensive.

I think you are incorrect, it's wired for either ac power or cat6(Poe), but works with wifi for data instead of cat6 too. I am wired in using my old doorbell wire and communicate to rest of network with wifi
Do what I do, buy a single POE injection, or a multiple port cheap POE Switch, then a cheap wall plug Wi-Fi extender/access point with a single ethernet jack. Plug the camera, or door bell into the POE, the POE network jack into the Wifi extender jack.

You now have Wi-Fi.

Setup, turn off DHCP on it, Site Survey both 2.4, 5 bands to get it on line, tell it to use cross banding, i.e. use the best band available for that wifi back hauling, the device will automaticallyswitch. Don't advertise or if you can don't turn on the wifi SSID access. You don't need it, nor want to load the extender with other devices, just the hard wired door bell.

This is how I avoided devices with piss poor Wi-Fi built in, you can upgrade it.

Just went to Wifi 6 AC, AX MESH network, so on one of my security camerasI installed a Wi-Fi AC extender replacing a very old extender that was just getting the job done.

Just buy a decent extender.

It also allows you to use that ethernet cable as an extension cord to move your Wi-Fi exdender close to the main network router or real access point, vs stuck with it in the device itself

So where do we connect the existing doorbell cable ? From photo it looks like it's just POE connection on back.
