As someone that installs Mini splits for a living, the Turbro brand is the finefare version of the carrier line that i install all the time...the Carrier branded stuff is twice the price and will probably give you 15 to 20 years of service where these others will probably be 5 to 10. I have repaired a lot of Senville, Durostar, and a few other off brand units that are all the same packaging and some of the same components as Carrier for the outdoor units. Indoor units seem cheaply constructed, but with proper purging and evac, should last.

The turbro is using the Midea app, just like the Carriers do...or i should say the carrier climate app is identical to the midea app.

If you want long lasting reliability Mitsubishi, but your gonna pay for that name and reliability. Carrier is step down from Mitsubishi, but not a huge one, and their technical support has been top notch...Mitsubishi's tech support is stellar...

Im installing Pioneer Diamante plus or ultra at my place, my landlord purchased, and from what ive seen of the outdoor unit they are a mostly the same parts as the carriers with a different board and inverter layout.

The biggest problems i run into are home owners doing the install, and then something goes bad in a year or two and its nearly the cost of the whole system to have a professional troubleshoot, fix, and recharge the system.

I'm biased cause i do this for a living, but having someone that does this everyday makes a bit of difference in the long-term life of the equipment, even the more affordable stuff.
If you don't know someone, then it's going to cost you multiple times the price of the unit to even have a warranty ("professional" install) or get it serviced (hint: labor not included).

Buy any decent unit, DIY, no complaining.

If I needed guaranteed reliability, I would just buy three of them, still save tons of money, and have spare parts (or whole units to swap) for as long as it could ever be useful.
Wish I could find an installer that doesn't charge thousands

They are smaller than traditional (ducted) AC systems. Those are technically "split" as well (in opposition to say window units where everything is in one box).

wtf, How do they come up with these Brand Names.
I'd stick to a brand name with warranty for these type of purchases. Big variance in build quality.

That's even if you could find a qualified installer that will show up right now. You have a better shot off-season.

But you can't find someone to service it or cover warranty claim.

The installers do that to protect their bread and butter of marking up these units in to 10k installations for 6 hours of labor.

Today is made by Gree which is pretty much the worlds largest air conditioner manufacturer.

The installers will say that you won't get a warranty with these but If you are handy and or know someone to help you could install you could pay to replace one of these 3 times before breaking even compared to the HVAC company prices.

As an aside I'm not sure what Gree's strategy is here because not only do they sell these to other companies to rebrand , they also sell them under their own directly owned brands Tosot and Kinghome , without any major differences in the product I'm not sure why you would pay to market 3 brands.

Local HVAC guy here I seen add 4200 to the cost of the unit and then add his labor and parts.

My son and I just finished installing a split ac similar to this one. I consider myself pretty handy with DIY projects, but this one was challenging. Getting a pro to install is probably a good choice for many homeowners.

If you want to try a DIY install, search the SD forums for mini split systems and you'll find lots of good tips.
