Just a heads up to anyone considering this, the Sync module has much slower access speeds than their subscription service. I personally believe it's throttled to encourage people to use the subscription, and I've seen others share this opinion. I have a high speed USB plugged into the sync module, which is nearly adjacent to my router, and it's about 70% slower than connecting to the cameras via the subscription service. Very shady.

4th gen is coming out this year. Offset camera and looks like they aren't using a separate motion sensor to trigger the camera.

Maybe prices will be lower when it comes out?

You can still get it if you buy the XT2 or older - good luck theyre pretty expensive because of this.
Is it tied to hardware or account creation date? I've seen conflicting information on here and elsewhere online. I currently use a USB drive plugged into my Sync module, but it would be nice to have the features I had during the free trial. LMAO

I've got 3 of these and 3 of the always on indoor ones. For basic spot checking or seeing who is at a location these are fine.

They don't always record properly, trying to set up recording schedules is terrible. Video is typically behind by 7 seconds with live view. The 'base/hub' is fairly weak and needs to be placed correctly.

Video Quality is pretty good. Two way audio is a nice feature but is buggy and laggy. Quite durable, they have made it through blizzards and tornado like weather at this point. I swap in a couple standard AA's every couple months and they work great. - Others use rechargeable or solar power and have mixed to good results.

For this price it's a good deal. I personally prefer Arlo myself but they are 3x as much. This gets you 80% of the features.

don't expect great video quality, especially in the dark. battery life is superb.
Battery life depends on activity and settings. The more events and the longer they last, the shorter the battery life - unless you limit the clip length or extend the retrigger time. You can also lower the sensitivity, but these miss motion even at high sensitivity.

it's a little slow but we're talking about a couple seconds. stop.

Anyways these cams are ok, but I thought I read they have person detection now, but only with a sub?? now thats a little shady.

Battery life is insane, supposed to be 2 years but even with tons of wasps triggering mine aka heavy usage, mine are way past 2 years on all of them. It's pretty insane. This after ppl said the 2 yr battery life is really 6 months. It's been the opposite for me.

I turned off the motion alerts to my phone cus like I said, most alerts are just wasps buzzing them. Theyre still cool to just drop in on live view or review past motion triggered clips.

Worst thing about them IMO is the 15 second or so live view duration to save battery, after which you have to push a "continue" button . well that and the low quality. but if you never used a better cam you wont notice the quality. It's probably on par with ring etc. i was very pleased with the video quality until i got my reolink lol.

Of course the tradeoffs they are the easiest things in the world to put anywhere. No wires and the batteries last forever, and relatively cheap on a sales like this.

I have a ~$50 reolink wired over Ethernet in the front, and the video quality is insanely better. That's to be expected with a wire though. But it kinda made me not want to look at the blinks anymore LOL. OTOH the Reolink phone app is arguably not nearly as smooth and easy to use as blink. But then again reolink makes battery operated ones with way better video quality as well, they just have short battery life or you need to supplement them with a small solar panel IIRC, and at that point IIRC they're pushing $200. Plus my favorite thing about my wired reolink is by jove if I want to sit there and stare at the live feed for 3 hours I can, there is no limit. Whereas the battery reolink supposedly has a 5 minute limit. Way better than blink but still annoying.

A cool thing I recently did is pair my blink doorbell with a wifi bulb off amazon for my porch light. And set up a Alexa routine where when the doorball cam detects motion at night, it turns the porch light on for 5 minutes. I had bad luck with my first routine, but so far this one is working fine. Also the echo show got an update where it can now view multiple camera feeds at once. Not that useful as they are quite small, but just cool. You can also set up routines to show the doorbell cam on your echo show on doorbell press too, although there is a delay.

nice link. according to that i guess it's just speculation but he thinks video quality wont be better.

thats disappointing as thats the #1 improvement i'd like to see. and i'd definitely trade off some battery life. if the battery only lasts 1yr instead of 2.5 i'd take it for better video, person detection, and maybe a longer live view timeout. well that'd be my dream wishlist for these.
