Mod Organizer 2 is one of the finest modding tools I've ever used. It has a modest learning curve, and mods the game non-destructively, essentially making mistakes undo able, and breaking the base game unbreakable.
This version does no support Parallax, which is all a matter of taste, but parallax mods do a great job at adding depth to surfaces, even if it's just a visual trick.
The mod community is alive and well, and in some cases better than the base game.

I've read that the special edition is automatically updated to the anniversary edition, is this true?
If someone plans on modding, would it be better to get the anniversary edition or special edition?
I'm just playing around with some cheaper older titles as they come up for sale, using on the $350 open box Lenovo 5600H and 3050ti so this is not a high-end machine and only a couple times a week.
