On my RG35XX, I installed Garlic OS and downloaded my own library of ROMs as most online sources recommended. There's no rhyme or reason with the included roms, they're a garbled mess of random languages and dumps.

Every review also says to replace the garbage micro SD that comes with the device as well. You can actually create your own micro SD with Garlic OS and your own ROMs before you even get the device. Just plug and play once the unit arrives.

I bought this 2 years ago when this was a clear winner for price to performance, but the retro-handheld space has blown up where that is no longer the case, even at this price. This does not have bluetooth, wifi, or hdmi-out. Anything past ps1 is hit or miss, but found only handheld emulation (gb, gbc, gba) legible on the 3.5 inch screen. This is a clear winner for GBA lovers, since the 3:2 inch screen is a perfect aspect ratio match. If I were to buy a retro-handheld today, I would get the powkiddy X55, which has great community software, hdmi-out, wifi, bluetooth, larger screen, and better performance, for under $100. Both are best when flashing a custom OS to an SD card , and would pass if that's not something that sounds fun to do.

Cool little device (I think I have this one, I get the P/M/MP models mixed up) and takes some tweaking to get set up. There are plenty of walkthroughs to do so.

I ended up upgrading to a Retroid.

I'm looking at the RG35XX but don't like how the games are numbered rather than by name in alphabetical order. Is there a way to change that?

Very old versions of the Nintendo Switch were relatively easy to 'hack' / jailbreak and add unauthorized 3rd party software to so they became great hosts for emulators. Newer versions of the Switch have been 'patched' by Nintendo to make this process much harder. I believe a vast majority of Switch's out there (anything newer than the original release version) are too new to fall into this category. My understanding is these older versions can fetch top dollar on the used market...but also lack updated batteries, screens, V1.1+ improvements so there is a big tradeoff as well.

I bought one at around this price on Amazon.

A bit disappointed with performance of PSP n64 and DC. Even GBA was stuttering from time to time when my NDSi can perform flawlessly on the same rom. Screen was pretty good but not really as good as Miyoo Mini. UI is amazing though. There are some reports where a chip that controls the controller goes bad as well. Hard to say whether it's worth it when there are other options like 35xx or MM+ for around the same price, although I suppose it has a more comfortable layout.

This or RG35XX to play retro games on TV with controller? Does this support that? Or is a different option better for that?

Great price. The aspect ratio is 3:2 which is the same as GBA.
Search for "Tiny Best Set: Go!" for a great curated list.
Using it with a Teamgroup 128gb micro sd for $8.50.

Retro Game Corps had an amazing review of this device a few years back if anyone wants details on it before buying. https://youtu.be/4Hw-xSgfGjU

Patreon: Better Gaming. Guy has all the files and all the videos on how to. Pretty quick actually!
I have a 1TB lexar that has 150 games and still lots of room.
Sounds crazy to pay for a hack but time is money and it's cheap.

Yes. Simply change the file name of the game.
