The clock versions are the best. Bought two even though I have no immediate need. If can't find a use can give as a gift. These don't seem to go on sale as much as the regular echo dot.

Hot tip, these new dots have a temp sensor, so they can tell you how cold or hot the room is.

I also prefer the blue because it gives better contrast to the white lights during the day.

Only downside about using Echos on Eero mesh is that each Echo is limited to 10 devices and 100 Mbps. That can be limiting for some connections.

The Echo Dot only works as a node on an existing Eero Mesh network. You still need some Eero Unit operating as your network's router to extend the mesh with your Echo.

I like the fact that you can have it be a part of the eero mesh system. I need a new router and may just get one of these and a eero mesh router if they go on sale for prime days.

Do we need to use the Eero brand to be part of mesh ? Can I use this as a wifi extender on any wireless router ?

100 Mbps might be fine for adding additional smart home devices though - my WiFi light switches all report connection speeds of 72.2 Mbps. The 10 device limit may be to encourage the purchase of additional Echos :-)

Good info, thanks! That is definitely somewhat limiting. I'll have to rethink that now.

Does anyone know if the 25% off will work? If I submit a trade in now, will I need to wait until it's confirmed trade in? Will that mean I run the risk of $30 deal expiring before trade in is verified?

Every time I have done trade in the 25% has been immediate, the only waiting has been for the device credit.

The 25% trade-in credit on Amazon is very YMMV as it depends on Amazon deeming one worthy of instant trade credit. I've had some of these Amazon device sales only offer trade-in discount credit after the trade-in was accepted. Then, a few days later Amazon would suddenly offer instant credit for the exact same trade.

TL;DR If you're wanting to use trade-in credit on these time sensitive sales, keep trying every day or so to see if discount credit shows up as instantly applied.
