MiniPCs have come a long way since this was released. Only reason to buy is for longevity of intels support/updates.

This is overkill. You can get a mini pc with Intel n100 for less than $200 with all components installed. It's plug and play and fast enough for browsing and office work.

just search n100 mini pc on Amazon.

I'm at the point where it's either 12th gen intel or nothing. Was such a dramatic improvement, for future proofing alone worth waiting to get those versions

Don't disagree but the 12th gen NUC I tried had some serious graphics and stability issues. I wouldn't recommend it. IIRC these 11th gen ones had a BIOS update that would nuke the board because the latest update on Intel's website was older than what they were shipped with - just a word of caution for anyone that buys in.

given that this has:

USB-C => 2 x Thunderbolt 3
Display => 1 x HDMI 2.0b 1 x Mini DisplayPort 1.4

One can attach 4 monitors?

I've been pretty satisfied with the NUC series, though I haven't used the 12th gen. I also don't update unless I'm experiencing an issue or there is a vulnerability.

Other than a random power supply, I've never had one die on me and that's saying a lot for a passively cooled box stuffed with an m2 and sata drive.

Yes! We sell these (configured) on Amazon. It's a good machine. Just check out the reviews on either B & H or Amazon; Perhaps even Newegg. And this is an amazing price. Between Uncle Joe and this price our business is gasping for air. Anyway, let me know if you have any questions. Be glad to answer free of charge.

No, only 3.
No. It will absolutely do 4. On the back: 1 Thunderbolt connection; a DisplayPort connection, and an HDMI port. Then, there's Thunderbolt connection on the front, which, unlike the NUC 10's front Thunderbolt, will actually drive a monitor. You want USB-C to HDMI or USB-C to DisplayPort adapters for the Thunderbolt connections. The one on the front will look a little tacky, but it will work. Just don't expect to get 4K at 60Ghz on all four.
