Fwiw the free program Calibre will let you convert/copy any items you own in competing standards to the kindle as long as they're not protected.

The Kindle is limited to the Amazon ebook format right, you can't use epubs with it? I owned the B&N version years ago and remember I went with that at the time because it could.

You can email an ePub to a Kindle and it will convert it so it's readable on the device with no other effort on your part.

I got this last time. It is essentially the same as the current basic Kindle except you can't invert the screen. Same six inch lighted screen otherwise.

I have this Kindle. Amazon only gives $5 trade in.

Same here. I've bought 3. One was perfect and still works, the second was a little less perfect and worked for six months until it got stuck in a boot loop and couldn't be fixed, and the most recent one was absolutely disgusting. It had grime in every crevice and the e-ink version of burnt pixels, where there's just a random point of bright light.

They finally switched to EPUB sometime within the last year, so you can read almost anything on it now. No conversion process necessary.

I keep getting temped by these cheap kindle deals but my old nook Glowlight Plus is still kicking. The GUI is slow but once a book is open it's fine. Works great with calibre. I'll just keep using it until it dies.
