Waaaay easier than making your own, which is possible. I doubt you can do it for $2.50 each where it'll work as well, though..

There are other colors for around that price, some with coupon. These will occasionally go about $5 cheaper, if you can catch them.

My City Pickers in my driveway have 8 foot tall tomatoes in them right now. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't done it, myself. The key: FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS. I think a lot of problems people have had is with not being meticulous about MIX versus planting SOIL (use MIX), as well as different fertilizing philosophies.
When assembling the box - push the wheels all the way in, and you won't have breakage.
